Mmmmmkay, well, as a few of you know, i had a little pilgrimidge This week with my cousin up to the coast and back down along it and home agian in a big triangle in search of a YZ250 for me and a CBR250 Roadie for him. We left our home town around 10am towards Hervey Bay and arrived there around 1:30pm or so, overcast and shitty all day and the heavens finally opened and pissed rain the rest of the day and night, so we only did a little bit of bike browsing there. Stayed the night there with a friend and then at 8:30 or so in the morning we made our dash down to Maroochydore was the next stop with a few other minor stops in towns inbetween to scope out the bike situation. The whole plan was to head to hervey bay/Maryborough, back to Maroochydore, then to Brisbane and back through Toowoomba and finally home again, but that plan went out the window when we hit Northcoast Kawasaki at Moroochydore. There they were the 2 bikes we had been searching for, a nice shiny 2001 YZ250 and an 88 CBR250 with a brand spankin new Smokin Joe Paint job on her. Lets just say we went at the right time, (the end of the finacial Year) and had a decent look around and new what we were on about, bike wise, cause I walked outta there with a pretty much brand spankin new lookin 2001 YZ250 in emacualte condition for $1155 off their marked price, and my cuz strolled out with that CBR for $1500 off the marked price of the CBR. (Including all onroad costs & Insurance):D:D So anywho, here's 2 pix of my new 01 YZ250, Damn I'm happy with it. Wooooooooo

I think this is the time to also mention that i got 2yrs parts and labour warranty with that aswel, which i can claim up to $4000 worth of damage to any part of the bike :D. hehe Wooooooo. I know bikes, and there was no way in hell i was walkin outta that dealership with a bike and no warranty, i dont care how good it went and looked. ;)

Mungoman45
6th July 2003, 09:01 PM
Hehe, yes yes, thanx for all the compliments people, I AM THE GREATEST..............HAHA. no, not really, i cant back that up....I DID do some sweet talkin, and knew what i was on about, which helped...... but here's the four one one, on the main reasons why i got such a good deal.

1) 4 simple words.... "END OF FINACIAL YEAR", Some of you know that i have been keepin my eye open for a bike for a few months, but only really went lookin to buy one in June/July. 99% of things are cheaper at the end of the financial year.

2) 3 simple words..... "PAY OUT RIGHT", If you get a bank loan, or Y-Loan or anything else, your in for a lot of interest. Cash or anything direct these days is better, you own it out right, and the dealership get all their money in 1 blow. Face it, all they want is your money.

3) 2 simple words..... "DOUBLE BUY", Some of you know that when i went on my little motorcycle purchasing expedition, I went with my cousin, who was looking for a CBR250. This was more of a coincedence than anything, but we ended up buying them both at the same time, from the same dealership, in cash. Believe me, They REALLY liked selling 2 bikes in 1 go. (we even got a few free beers outta the deal, while we waited lol

And those 3 points, along with as Andy said, my slow, sweet voice HAHA, made for quite a good buy.
Also note that we DID do like a 3 day trip around everywhere looking and the dealership we ended up buying them from was 5hrs away from our home, so dont settle for your local shit, look around and always get prices on things you might be interested in, it shows the salesmen at the dealership, that you HAVE been lookin around and that ya know what these things are worth, and sometimes, that ya can get a better deal elsewhere, if they dont "co-operate" lol.

Aaaaaaaaaand I'm spent. :D Oh well, while I'm here, I might aswel slap in a lil edited pic of my ride. Once again, it's all personal taste.

Orange plastix, Orange rims, Cut fenders and a UP Sports Dragon kit. I personally dont think it would look too bad, certainly originall anyways.

hey brad one thing lose the stock graphics i hate the 2001 stock graphics they look shit but its your choice but i love ya bike and while were talkng bout dealers we traveled an hour to the local dealer and traded a 2000 model xr 650 for a brand new ktm 125 but mind you 2 weeks before we traded a cr 80 an xr 80 and an xr 70 in for my 250f with a $900 change over and a pair of fox gloves and fox airframe yellow crome so we kinda got the best out of the dealer

Mungoman45
6th July 2003, 11:36 PM
ok, I'll go out tomorrow and buy meself some newbie graphics bro. What type would you like?, after all, I wanna keep ya happy. HAHA.
I had actually planned to get skin industries freeride graphix, but then Rhys got Pete's bike and I've seen a few others floatin about around these parts with em aswel, so i opted against em, but i do plan to get different graphics............and different plastix.........and different bars............and different seat cover.......and the list goes on, keep in mind while I'm writting this i've only had it in my possesion 10 days or so, LOL. I cant be expected to do everything to it in a short period of time. It'll be a work in progress. $$$ is everything.

Mungoman45
7th July 2003, 05:23 PM
Yeah, thats where i originally got the whole idea of the orange plastix Andy. Good ol' Acerbis are makin orange plastix to go with their "Orange Crush" graphics kit, that you have posted a pic of there. I'm with Chris on this one but, i didn't really like the look of their complete kit, but figured, I could have a play with the colour, soon as it was now available.

Oh yes, I also finished cuttin the fenders this morning. So here she is in FMX trim. I'm not going to chop the side plates for grab holes or anything yet, cause I cant do anything spectacular, so it would just look like I'm a try hard. Anywho, Here's a pic of it takin this morning.

looks mad i like the way how the back one is cut

Mungoman45
11th July 2003, 12:15 AM
yes yes, thankyou for the praise. I didn't think i did too bad at all for my 1st time cuttin plastics. But it did do a few test runs before cutting. Dunno if any1 else has done this, but i grabbed a red crayon and marked out the curve and where i wanted to cut 1st, then grabbed the digi cam, took a few shots of side on and on angles and stuff, then went and digitally cut it 1st to see how it would look and if the curve worked. That helped HEAPS, as i didn't like how i did it 1st off, and if i had just hacked into it straight out, it wouldn't be anywhere near as neat as it is. 3rd time was a charm and thanx to Andy and a few others, you know who you are, for their help and guidence with everything. LOL.

Shifty
11th July 2003, 12:06 PM

I personally like Lime green. My favoritiest colour.

Mungoman45
11th July 2003, 02:01 PM
HAHA, yes yes Crayons ROCK and if i HAD to choose, i believe I would have to go blue or orange. But anywho, gettin off topic once more. Well Pete ma man, i used a hacksaw to roughly slice off the end bits, then shaped it with a bench grinder, then i got into it with a file and then the sandpaper. took about 2hrs to do both. :D

Might aswel slap a pic in here aswel of this morning, i raked out my lil mini kicker and gave it a little work out. Can only have that lil baby set pretty small cause the big bikes would just detroy it. I was thinkin it was only like 15ft, 20ft Max, but i actually went out and measured it before and it was 30ft. so there ya go, surprised even me, LOL. Anywho...

Shifty
11th July 2003, 02:23 PM
Nice Brad, kickin it out right there ^ NICE, Its like making love to a beutiful woman, you never forget heh heh heh.

How big is the jump for that downy?

Mungoman45
11th July 2003, 02:34 PM
Well, due to dirt limitations and the loader havin a rooted rear wheel at the moment, i have to make do with what i got, so that downramp right there is the downramp for the little kicker, and both the 50ft and 70ft ramps. the 70ft is straight, the 50ft ya have to cross up to the right and the kickers downramp is on the right hand side.

When the loader is fixed, I'm rippin up the 70ft upramp and dumpin it on the dowramp to make it higher, and replacing the 70ft upramp with our big steel ramp.

redbull_fmx

Mungoman45
18th July 2003, 02:59 PM
hehe yes well, i attacked the kicker again this morning and well, me being me and not remembering that i had changed my suspension setup, hit it like i awlays had and well, due to their bein more "spring back" in the rear, and the kick of the ramp, through me over the front and well lets just say i didn't land on 2 wheels, or even 1 for that matter HAHA. emazing thing is i landed on the left hand side of the bike and slid down the downramp to a holt and when i finally got up i found that the bars had taken the full grunt of the landing and the plastix and graphics didn't have a scratch on em at all. i was emazed. Anywho, here's some pix of the bars....my conclusion.......stock bars suck HAHA. Oh and yeah, I just came out of the deal with a pretty badly swollen, bruised and cut up left knee.......but ya get that with the big jobs ;)

Shifty
18th July 2003, 06:19 PM

Okey dokey, Might aswel keep the info updated, soon as there's a thread dedicated to my bike, so, here's the latest, after my crash, and bent bars saga, i was in the market for some newbie's and i did have a decent look around and i went with some gold normal "YZ" bend TAG T2's  and let me tell you, they are just friggin unreal, or it could just be me gettin to ride again after 2 weeks off, lol. I origianally ordered them in "electric blue" but they didn't have any in stock in the entire country, anywho. Due to them bein slightly wider and an inch or so higher, due to the new clamps, it suites my height very well. Anywho, time to make with the pics.

Oh, and Maxy, just PM me and I'll give ya our main "company" email, you can send me shit through that any time and one of the Mungo crew will get it, just say who it is for ;).

Blue Haze

Those look great Mungo, good stuff.

Mungoman45
31st July 2003, 05:08 PM
hehe, why thankyou Hazey, I dont think they're too shabby myself...and as a matter of fact, i have just returned from crash testing them, HAHA. not purposly ofcourse, but these things tend to happen. Now it may seem that I'm accident prone on a motorcycle at this point, lol, but i assure you, it was just unfortunate circumstances...I was out havin a play this morning, just doin some mono's and shit, and anywho, when i put the left grip on the bars, i used some "lubricant" to get it on, cause the bastard was tighter than a condom on a beachball hehe ;), and i thought by today, it would have dried up and become nicely attached to the bars....how wrong i was..... anywho while doing a mono, the grip slipped off the bars takin my hand with it, the wheel turned sharply to the right, the front dropped and BAM, yet again, i met the dirt face to face as it were. few scratches and grazes, nothin major, so i got up, found the grip slapped it back on and rode back to the workshop. During my ride back i noticed the bars were ever so slightly bent to the left, but after reaplying the clamps and givin the front wheel a little slap in the right direction everything proved to be ok, bars stood up to a nice hard hammering, and lets face it doin a mono in 4th on a 250 and hittin the deck is not what you would call a light landing ;). Only other damage i did was a stress mark across the front fender and an inch crack on the right hand side of it. Anywho, after proving to myself the TAG T2's can stand a rather heavy pounding, i recommend them to any1 for a more than a decent set of bars

Mungoman45
12th September 2003, 07:10 PM
RIGHT.........time for an update me feels. This has been a few weeks in the making, and it all finally come to a brilliant finish this arvo. i spent a good few hours today applying my new "Mungo" graphics that i got custom made and I'm more than happy with them. They're made out of a mirrored Chrome, and as a result, it is REALLY hard to try and get a decent picture of them, cause all ya see is different colours and shit of everything around that's reflectiing off them. But anywho, due to that fact, I'll slap up a pic of the Photoshopped image of them 1st which is a lot easier to see where everything is :D

Mungoman45
12th September 2003, 07:12 PM

hehe, Thanx, I just wanted something original that no one else had, that looked cool and had atleast the Mungo Symbol on em, and thats what we, (me and Dan) came up with. He photoshopped it on, then i had to redraw it in real life, so i could get a template made. Overall it came out better than i had really expected :D. And yes, that is our property behind there, thats the main road side of the house there, all my setup is out back. :D

13th September 2003, 03:12 PM
Mungo, How much did the custom graphics cost and where did u get them from? Im looking to pretty up the KTM but its all about the $$$. Alot of kits cost too much, although i havent got a definate cost on the kits im looking at. I'm looking at the One Industries hot wheels kit and the Skin industries one and the ZING 'freeride'one. The ZING kit is the one on the KTM 250 test riden by matty schubring in the last freerider. If anyone knows the definate cost is for the graphics kit, including seat cover, please tell me. Mungo, got abit off the topic. Very nice kit on yours, how much???

13th September 2003, 05:49 PM
mungo take some photos of your setup and you riding there, i wanna see if the bike goes as good as it looks :)

Mungoman45
14th September 2003, 03:50 PM
well, "most" graphics kits are around the $250-$350 mark. I got mine made up at a local car Tinting establishment that also does sign writting and, well, as you can see by my graphics, pretty much anythng you can think up, they can make.
All up it cost me $80 :D, however thats just the graphics, i still need to put some hard bike contact over it all before i go doin anything too silly on it ;) so i guess for graphics and contact it will come to $120, as the contact is about $20 per sheet, and ya need 2 sheets to do both sides.

Mungoman45
21st September 2003, 02:56 PM

Dunno as of yet, if those graphics are still available or if they are, what models they're available for.
As for my side plates, yes i did cut them, the reason behind that is what i call "the dogs balls syndrome" as in, "CAUSE I CAN"
I got bored one night, started playin round with a pic of my bike, i chopped it, they looked good in my opinion, so i chopped em in real life. took 8cm off the bottom. Some people like em some dont. It's my bike, and i like it, so there ya go

so that even worked on your rims? i thought they had a coating on them to stop stuff getting to the actuall alloy?

Mungoman45

Yes.........yes it did work, like a charm. although I'm not too sure how well charms work :p. And aslong as ya wash it with actual tank water or "rain water", and keep em clean, they should be hunky dory. Just like keepin Chrome mags clean :D.......... or as far as my understanding goes. I only actually pollished up the outer edge of the rim, not the entire thing, so it should be easy to keep clean

took a while to reply but thanks for that info on them graphics mungo, lol. That silencer looks sweet. Did ya have to sand blast it first or anything to get the paint of if there was any on it or did ya just polish it?

Mmmmmmkay...thanks for the positive comments guys, much appreciated, now to get straight to the point, cause i got a lot more shit to check after this thread lol. uuuum. ok. I'm the one that usually took the photo's of the others, cause i didn't have a bike....but now that i DO have a bike......I'm out there ridin with everyone, not standin around takin photo's lol, hence why it is now rare to get photo's of me, or anyone else for that matter lol, but as i told, Adam, i think it was, when i do get some decent pics, this place will be the 1st place they'll be goin :D...Now...No, i didn't have to sandblast anything, just many hours rubbin with Autosol and Silvo :).....just takes patience really.:D

Ah, has been quite a while since i posted any pics of the beast, so i thought i may aswel whack up some nice shiny new shots, just to reasure everyone i still do have her LOL. Although, it IS still for sale, so I'm startin to be swayed towards the shipping idea, so once i find out how much it's gunna cost to freight and crate it anywhere, I may be open to the idea of shipping it to anyone that comes up with some sort of reasonable offer, depending on the shipping cost, i may even knock that off the sale price so it evens out. Anywho, just thoughts for now. I'll just make with the piccies

wicked, hey mungo, with those bar raiser to fit 1 1/8 could you get your feet over possibly, cause im 5'8 and with my 7/8 renthals they seem a tad low, but ide rather get tag tripple clamps and mcgrath bend, but if i can get away with the adapters, ill do it up

Mungoman45
25th May 2004, 01:50 AM
Well I'm not gunna pretend i can do barhops, so i wouldn't really know. Those are Seth bend TAG's with a standard cerco clamp kit. Which makes it around 1 to 1 1/2 inches higher than stock, the bend, as ya can see isn't really feirce, but ya can either take the pad off or pull it down with zipties, should make some difference. If ya worried about not gettin ya feet over, get some with a higher bend, but depending on what ya do most of the time, ya probably dont want a super high bend, like the Yamaha TAG double Hi's, if ya gunna be racing, cause i cant emgine em bein too comfortable. Then again it just comes down to your style, ya may feel comfy with really high bars, who knows lol.

Hmmm....na, doesn't really worry me......ARE YOU KIDDING!...of COURSE I'd kill to have them back :(....2 tracks...1 better than the actual Sunshine State town track, and a full FMX Compound, what was it steve?...32meters from my front door?.....*shakes head in dissapointment*...what a waste ....but yes, if i even had a glimpse of dirt, or any hope what-so-ever that i could start another setup, i wouldn't even think about selling her, but alas, there is none :(. UNLESS..........na, none :(

32m's from the front door to the compound... truly a master builder to even have such a Vision, but to carry it out, truly was a feat my good man.

I just had a crazy far out scheme that could get you some dirt, now what you need to do... Is start up an E--moooo farm, you could raise Emu's. Then when the e-moo's need water, you dig a dam and Wa-lah you go ur self one hell of a hole in the ground!

Oh wait... we were after a compound... Ahh Nuts.:( HEyyyyy you can use the dirt that you dug the dam up with and you got a compoundddd Hoorah

My graphics are custom made, and feature the Mungo logo, so i doubt you have the same graphics "kit". However, feel free to post a pic up for me, and everyone else to have a gander at, in the main members bike pics thread, if you havent done so allready. :) And, funny as it may sound, i think I'll pass on the swap :p, allthough you're more than welcome to purchase my motorbicyle for a reasonable price ;).
