Honda Summer Of Supercross & FMX Unleashed:
Only those with the passion for living life in the fast lane and on the edge of reality can truly appreciate what today’s true gladiators do on their “dam dirt bikes-bubba, crusty demons of dirt”.
Lining up on the start line, is 20 vultures willing to do whatever it takes to win the prestigious first place, second means nothing in the world of supercross. This weekend marks the first ever combined supercross and freestyle motocross event for Full Throttle Sports.
“Full Throttle Sports is taking this century’s most extreme off road motorcycle competitions and blending them into one all night supreme spectacle. Australian Supercross and Freestyle Motocross superstars will compete along side one another in what promises to be a memorable night. I love going to the movies and being glued to the screen for the whole time, I can’t stand being bored. There needs to be constant momentum in any form of entertainment that you provide to consumers” –Yarrive Konsky, FTS director.
Team No Fear Honda will be coming out with all guns blazing. Troy Dorron will make a return to the series after being sidelined with an injury from round 1 and New Zealanders Cody Copper (Australian MX Champion) will make his debut in Australia for 2005 along side plenty of other Australian Champions.
“I don’t want them to have all the fun, I am a racer, that is what I am paid to do and I want to be out their racing. I think I will do well, if I didn’t I wouldn’t be out there” - Troy Dorron.
With Dorron returning and Cooper racing, the race for first becomes increasingly more intense. There is a current tie for first place between Yamaha’s Cameron Taylor (Current Australian Supercross Champion) and ex-Australian Champion Craig Carmichael (Fox Honda). These two have shared wins in rounds 1 & 2 respectively.
“After round 1 I knew I had to train, I had the speed but not the endurance. Last week I felt I could have done another race. I had 5 weeks to prepare, and the work I have done has paid off. I need to carry the momentum into this weekend. My CRF 450 was getting of the line well and there’s no reason why it won’t again”- Craig Carmichael
Taylor wants the win; he was a little disappointed after last weeks Beat Down (Carmichael won all 4 motos) and wants to regain his place on the winner’s podium.
“It was totally un-expecting, Carmichael rode brilliantly, I never came close. I am going into this weekend wit a lot more aggression, he caught me unaware and I won’t let that happen again. I can’t afford to”- Cameron Taylor
The Champion for the Lites class will also be determined at the last round. Moss, Harvey, Sinclair and Williams are all within 7 points of one another. This in itself will create for high action, high intense racing.
“I really want the win, I have been training hard in the off season and I want to repay myself and my sponsors with the series win. I know I have some stiff competition in Harvey and Sinclair as well as several other riders, but I know I can win I just need to get a good start”- Jake Moss
The Supercross battle has been written up, top racers, a world class track and titles that can only be decided on the night. Its going to be HUGE!
FMX Unleashed
The nation’s only freestyle competition is also set to erupt as it rocks in to Avalon. Australia’s leading freestyle riders will go head to head in an aerial display that would better fit across the round in Avalon’s air show.
The riders are taking it to a whole new level and there will be no holding back on Saturday night.
“Its awesome having the opportunity to display our talents in an Australian series, it’s a long hike down from Townsville and I am not coming here for anything other than first again. After winning round 1 I have been practicing flat out in an effort to step it up to another level again”- Shaun “Richo” Richardson.
Two other riders Cameron “SINX Sinclair and Blake “Bilko” Williams will be flying back from New Zealand to compete in both the supercross and freestyle motocross competitions. They are taking a granted break from their Crusty Demons of Dirt commitments to come home for the weekend’s event.
“I can’t wait; I have been practicing many variations and am looking forward to displaying my ‘bag’ of tricks this weekend. The back flip is something that I have become totally comfortable with. I have been pulling 20-30 a day leading up to Crusty’s. I am looking forward to unleashing it this weekend at home, in my home state”- Blake Williams.
The back flip will be demonstrated this weekend along with everything and anything your imagination could dream up. These boys have stepped it up and are now being accepted as world-class athletes.
Judgment Day will come this Saturday!
