hey guys... the left front fork is leakin, should i assume it's the fork seal? cos i landed very heavy on the flat, and only noticed after an hours riding. there's not much oil leaking out, but oil none-the-less. decidin whether i should spend heaps gettin a mechanic to look at it, or do it myself.
what would i need for it? and how should i go about it?

You have proberbly blown your fork seals. But if you are decently skill in the art of mechanics. AND HAVE A MANUALE ( dont ask for spelling lol)

You defenatly need a manual.

Wouldn't be anything to serious by the sounds of it man, Sounds like the seal to me, doesn't take too much to pop/brake one of those babies. After all thats what they're there for, to SEAL the oil in and as a bit of giveway if, like you said, put too much pressure on it, and in turn break it. Fork seals are an at home job, no worries. Dunno what all of ya's are thinkin not havin a workshop manual for your bikes, that was the 1st thing i bought for mine, cost $60 and it saved me HUNDREDS! in repairs.

hmm some fork seals you need a special fork seal driver tool to get em in ... if you had to ask what was wrong i'm guessing you probly aren't that mechanicly minded so probly best to get someone else to do it.

i once had some fork seals put in by a guy, he put them in wrong and ended up costing me $250 to replace the shims and seals he destroyed while trying to put new ones in.

It's a seal.. Take it to a good bike shop... Don't even think about pulling it apart without the workshop manual... I did mine with a mate using the manual and it was still a big job..

yeah to avoid any ****ups, it should be into mech tomorrow or something.. might get one of those workshop manuals tho aswell, i'm not that mechanically minded, but enough to usually get me by... i just ride lol

Surely its fork seals. I dont really trust myself when dealing with suspension so I normally have a mech do it. But if you want to do it yourself just get a manual, all you gotta do is replace the seal and the oil.

I have tried this, sometimes a small bit of sand can get stuck in the seal, just get some 35mm Film and try sliding up the shiny surface of the fork up into the seal do this all around the seal and then see if it stops leaking.. I had the same prob once and it fixed mine..

ages ago i had a bit of oil coming out of my right fork, does that mean that i have done a seal as well. like i did that ages ago, and i have done heaps of riding since, and it doesnt seem any different to my left fork. Shi t, i bet my bike is really fuc*ed, and i just keep riding it, (but cant now coz of back brake disc...)
