How do u do animated avatars? cause ive got a mad one of my petrol remote controll car launching a little double

I use an animation program or a Gif editing program. Thats what i used to make my animated sig. + some other image editing programs. The only thing thats stopping me makin a custom Avatar is the limits, HAS to be either 120x120 pixels OR 20kb whichever is smaller. and to get a good animation that small in size is damn near imposible. :(
