The One handed indy is quite an advanced trick, and certainly not a trick to be sneezed at. When trying to learn this trick, it will seem quite technical, trying to get different body parts to do what you want them to do.

You will want to be able to do Superman Seatgrab Indy's (SSG Indy's) and also standard One Handed Grabs. (Which both guides can be found in the How-To Forums ;))

1. As you approach the ramp, keep your mind ticking over, what your arms and legs need to do. Keep your body in a nice attack position as you ride up the ramp. As you leave the ramp, you will want to begin the trick relatively quick, as you will need a lot of time when learning this trick.

2. As you leave the ramp, get your grab hand in the grab-hole, and begin pushing yourself off the bike in one motion like any Seat Grab or SSG Indy. While in this position, you should already be very used to having your body high above the bike, your head down close to the petrol tank, (and I generally like to tilt my head to the one side, just to help twist my body), so begin to twist your body to the side in which you want to push your legs.

3. There is a stage during the Indy stage, when you will feel best with letting your "Bar hand" go off the handlebars. Hopefully by this stage, you have done One Handed Grabs, and would have a fair idea on how your body reacts to one handed grabs. I found for myself, it is just as I've twisted my body, and I'm almost about to extend my legs for the Indy. This I've observed as when most riders will let go of the bars with the hand.

4. (When starting out, just let go for a split second and grab back on, and then progressively get bigger and bigger, remember don't go too big, too fast!) When you have let go with the grab hand, you will need to find the bars with your "Bar Hand" as soon as possible for landing, and in this motion, you will bring your legs back to the centre of your body for landing. This trick will feel like one singular motion, so when doing the trick, don't feel the need to be all jerky in motion, as it might put your balance off, and get caught up in your head with what is happening, that you may land sooner than you expect.

5. On landing, always keep your eyes on the downramp, as to guage how long to hold the trick, and how long it will take to get all your arms and legs back to the right spots for landing.

And there you have a One handed Indy.

Main Points to look out for:
- Always remember what your body is doing, and where in space and time you are... both arms and legs are doing different things, so you have to keep your wits about you where you're arms are in the air.

- Twist your body enough before you let go of the bars so that you don't kick the tire or fender or do something silly

- Make sure to keep the downramp in your line of sight to know when to get back on

- When you let go of the Bars... remember the force you take your hand off, may cause them to swing from side to side, making it difficult to grab back on... have a 6th sense to know where the bars are located.

- And always find the bars on re-entry, as landing without holding on from this trick might be very painful in the end

Hopefully this guide has helped you along the way to doing the One Handed Indy and given you those extra little tid-bits of information to figure it out. Once again, you should only be able to do One handed Grabs and Seat Grab Indy's, which are the ground work tricks to build up to this.

Good Luck

Picture - You can just see my "Bar Hand" behind my back. Legs are as straight as possible, Bar hand is back as far as possible and the Grab arm is also very straight, to keep my body up off the bike, to make sure I don't get caught up on the bike at all during the trick.

Doesn't matter mate :) You grab with whichever you want to grab with, whatever feels comfy!
I grab with my left hand, Petey A grabs with his right... doesn't matter.
Just have fun doing it is the main thing ;)
