Um, i want to know something.
How come the Gold Coast always get FMX? THis is the 4th time in 2 years that they have had it, we have had jack shit. Move it down to Melbourne for a year or 2, dont like, move it back up there.
The Snitz
16th January 2005, 01:20 AM
Dalt... I've already said this once this week... RACELINE PROMOTIONS IS BASED AT THE GOLD COAST.
They have had a huge Car Show on for like 10 years, and 2 years ago, they decided to help Freestyle MX out and put it on, it was Such a big hit, they put it on for the other car show 6 months later... and proved to be a huge success again, So now they have committed themselves to holding a competition on the Gold Coast... WHERE THEY ARE BASED for the greater good of FREESTYLE MX.
Also you said this same thing in another thread... where Ian answered you once with:
dude geelong has been in our plans for a while, also albury, & we are making slow progress, prob is the gold coast events & our involvement with INDY is a huge workload, however i am wanting to stage X-RATED at these other centres
i need sponsors & supporters etc
cheers
So even though RACELINE PROMOTIONS isn't obliged to put on a show anywhere else, because their base, and niche is at the Gold Coast, they want to help Freestyle elsewhere which is very decent of them. FMX Unleashed is booked in for Melbourne this year sometime after it had to be cancelled last time...
Lets not forget Crusty, MM tour booked in this year, Crusty in the past 2 years... Also small town demo's that guys like EMPIRE FMX put on....
I didn't want to have to type all that out, but it seems people forget events very quickly.... And I guess i'll use this for reference next time someone asks the same question.

yeh but its really pisses me off. Last KOTC i was actually gunna fly up there for the weekend and watch then fly back down, it would have costed me about $500+ in everything....So yeh, get somehting down here, move your "base" down here in melbourne, i dont care what you say, i want to ametuers aswell as pros, but ill just have to watch the pros, we see them too much somtimes, we never see ametuers, get them every around aus, not just in the one spot. Maybe some of the riders want a change instead of the same place the whole time? It just really annoys me...

Man no offence but i dont think u no what u are talkin about... Raceline promos are bassed in QLD they cant just up and move at the drop of a hat because some 13 year old kid wants some FMX comps down his way..... If u were readin what Steve said... Thats what FMX unleashed is all about...FMX in Australia isnt like America... We cant just go around havin comps and things where ever... There are so many things to think about... Insurence... Riders... Set up... And also yeah it is the same place but the set up is changed around and its not the same old boring course... No offence man but i think you are a bit young to b telling people where to move there "base"... your what 13 now???
Adam...

16th January 2005, 01:37 AM
Do you NOT READ WHAT IAN FROM RACELINE WROTE??? They have Albury and Geelong in their sights. They Want to do this for people, so there is no need to come on here with an attitude, i really doesn't suit you mate. They're not going to move their entire business to Melbourne just for an FMX event... they're business is for Car enthusiasts, and FMX is just a new addition.
Like I said.... 10 minutes ago... FMX Unleashed will be there this year... Wild Card entries in that of Amatuer's no doubt... and Empire FMX do shows around the place.
I'm not sure why this has not sunk in?? It's great that you are that dedicated to your freestyle to fly to KOTC... and you probably should have, to witness something as great as it was, but in this not-so-perfect country which doesn't have corporate sponsors running around willy-nilly like in America who sponsor events like IFMA... it simply doesn't run like that. 2004 would have been the biggest year in FMX for competitions I think. And 2005 looks to be even bigger if all goes to plan. So I think less "expecting" and more "appreciation" for what you get and the world will be a better place.
I'm sorry if I haven't explained better, but I feel this is as clear as I can make it

Just to add my little comment on the situation, as a rider, lets see where I'd rather travel to for a comp, disregarding distance, Gold Coast or Melbourne. HMMMMMMMMM. Tough choice, NOT! Goldy wins hands down, it's sick up there. Even factoring in the distance thing, for me, I'd still go the Gold Coast despite it being over 2.5 times further away.
And $500 to go up and watch, boo-hoo, it cost me that in fuel alone...
stavross
16th January 2005, 11:54 AM
they have it at the gold coast cause its poser central so people will come to look at cars...

Yeah grant and the great part if going to the comps and see the dedication of some of the riders pros and ams traveling how way round the counrty side to get the comps and MM13 spare a thought for a guy like hoani murry who drove all the way up from south australia just to ride in the kotc now thats commitment.

hey steve, u xplained the logistical nitemare of running pro -am comps in other areas very well, however i am pressing on with plans for geelong & albury, FMX COMPS are much more costly than running car shows & involve a lot more organising etc, however the X-RATED format of FMX combined with import cars etc is the way we would go, u will note the april event this year is titled FMX NATIONALS, the reason is to allow us to use of the
X-RATED name for the shows in other areas so there is no confusion with the NATIONALS, hope this helps some ppl to understand, (we like to keep u all informed as much as poss) we are not anti melb or anything, its just that its much less complicated in our own back yard.
cheers

Thanks mate, I've only just figured out how much work goes into doing a little small town show for the demo's I'm organising myself, let alone what needs to go into doing a huge one like what you have. I take my hat off to any promoter now, the stress and worry that you go through is bloody high.
Anyway take care mate, can't wait to travel the country with X-Rated :p

DUDE! Am I missing something? Ohh yes. WA. There you have it. We get nothing. We don't complain, because we have common sense.
Jamie is willing to travel 4000's plus kilometers to do the event. All the way from Perth. If he want's to get noticed, it's what you have to do. And it is what he is doing. Good on you Jamie. I hope you go over there and show them that WA does have talent!

25th January 2005, 03:17 PM
i have always wanted to go to a fmx contest in melb and nothing has come of it.
surely raceline would beable to do another event without a car show just like a freestyle comp , down here in melb there are heaps of ideal places you could hold events etc.
maybe somethign for the future that you guys could add in is a kotc series that travel around australia eg: qld , syd, melb and maybe even perth the whole series would be huge.

have been told (by some 1 who knows) that there is a couple of AMS who r gunna blow the boots off some of the pros, could be a real upset, these events r gettin soooo competitive
ALSO
THE FMX NATIONALS will be a different track set up, the set up will all be the burnout strip arena, (the down ramp will be on the square & NO they wont be ridin or landing on the ashphalt) the high spectator hill provides an amphitheatre which will make spectator viewing awesome, ppl who have seen the burnouts at KOTC will know what i mean, it will be the biggest down ramp we have built so far & the track design is being put together by Mark (dirt demon) the layout & setting will provide the most spectacular show of real FMX action yet seen in AUST
