Hey, has anyone had one of these...? It's called an external fixature or something like that.. I got it after a massive compund fracture of my right wrist... Sorry haven't got any photos before thay put it on as all I wanted to do was get to hospital and get on the morphine.. Basically the bone that runs down the outside of the wrist broke about an inch from the bottom.. Afterwards the bone was sticking out of the skin and was fully visable.. Wicked...

The doctor and physio told me I'd only ever get 80% of the movement back... BTW physio is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.. They gave me these really basic exercises... I went straight home and started doing them with a hand dumb bell with no weight on it... After three months I can now say I've got close to 95% of the movement back and I'm working towards 100%.. The chick as physio freaks out everytime she see's me... Can't believe I've gone this far...

Don't believe everything they tell you..

Shit man, that looks kinda rough. In the great words of Jims dad in American Pie 2: "You just keep pluggin, and good things will happen" hehe. Hope ya do get 100% back bro.

While we're on the subject of buggered arms, Mungoman M went in for surgury this morning on both his wrists. The surgery was to REMOVE titanium plates and screws in his wrists. He broke both of them at once, after casing a double, bout 6-7 months ago. Sorry, dont have any pix at the moment, and even if i did, they'd only be X-Rays and cast ones, not real exciting.

Ohhh shit...;-( Both at once.... Man, that's gotta make self relief hard..lol..Sorry that was harsh.. Best of luck to Mungoman M he's got a long road in front of him by the sounds of things..

Plates and screws was the next option if they couldn't use the fixature thingy... I got to take the top two screws out..!! The doctor attached the Tbone and I asked if I could have a shot at unscrewing one.. I did such a good job on the first he asked me if I wanted to do the rest.. When I started the bottom two I did the lower one first and that was the last thing I could remember for about 5 minutes... I passed out.. Apperently there is a nurve that runs near your middle finger and the bottom screw was pressing on it, when I started to unscrew it I flopped out cold... He recons it was a good thing as they didn't need to use a local... Took the two screws out while I was passed out..

Hey Insane.. How long ago did you do yours and does it still hurt when you ride..? I find if I have a hard landing it kills like hell for a while... They recon it will get better the stronger I make it... I'm now up to 15kg's on the dumb bell and it still hurts like hell..

What really spins me out is that I recently had a bad landing similar to the flippage CR250 Vid except I went off to the right.. Exactly the same sort of jump except a lot bigger.. When I landed my weight was to far back and I also landed on an angle... My right wrist locked the throttle wide open and there was sweet FA I could do about it except hang on.. I was heading straight at this old plough and had to do something... All I could do was let go of my right hand and let the throttle snap it's self off...Then slam on the brakes... Freaked the sh#t out of me as I'd never had this sort of problem before breaking it...

sounds like you all need to drink more milk!!!! i've had several big get offs over the last few years but no broken bones... just bruising to the point i couldnt move my elbow once for a week, a bruised knee and hip which had me not walking for a week and lots of gravel rash ... actually i've still got bits of gravel in my hip from about 2 and a half years ago. occasionally little sharp bits come to the surface and pop out lol .... but no broken bones! stoked

Ok.... First things first... If you can't handle blood, goop, nasty stuff, broken stuff, ect... Then do not download this file... I've ZIP'd it so it won't be visable to the thread without reading the warning...

This is why you should always wear a full face helmet girls and boys...

I warned you...

lol, yeah RIGHTO, we were just sayin that we should have had someone in the operation room take some pix of when they opened his arms up, now that would have looked cool. That right there is a week after his operation to take the plates out, so they're lookin pretty clean, which is always good. Have you had 2 broken arms? just wondering if ya know what it feels like to have someone else wipe your ass.

Im pretty lucky... Ive gotten pretty far now with no broken bones, all my injuries dealed with tendons, ligaments, cuts...But I have broken my foot and my wrist in half pipe, but not anything like those pics of mungoman, those are sick.Anyways a friend of mine broke his femur in three pieces, it was gnarly the middle piece went across between the top and bottom.

I reckon its pretty scary when you just riding along and somthing bad happens. Like dropping off a cliff or getting hit by a 4x4 in my case.

I thought Fark a few more milliseconds and i would have took the full impact of a Pajero traveling 40km/h. Im lucky i didnt do anything to my hip or ass when it it. lol.

But one thing you know you are riding
them bahm outta no where. big hit and you sailin through the air. Thats scary.

And my other serious injury was when i was "fruit bootin" stacked on the 12ft half pipe and land on my wrist. I ripped all the bones apart from the growth plate and shatter another bone.

They were considering operating but didnt thank god. I was in a cast for 10 weeks :(

when i was 11 i broke both the bones in my left wrist one was a clean break the other the bones were crossed over and my wrist had the big dint in it like my whole wrist had dropped ( but no pics) anyways they fixed it up and i got back on the bike within about 2 weeks and the plaster was loose so the bones moved then i had to have a plate and 3 screws for a year and about 3 months in plaster which meant no riding :( but it all heeled good:D

Yeah came in very handy during pub fights... Nuh just kidding... It consists of four pins.. Two in your hand and two in your arm... The pins screw straight into the bone then they put a clamp on each end (gold coloured things covered in dry blood) the whole thing is then held togeather with two carbon fiber rods (the black things)...
