Insane
5th April 2003, 01:09 AM
The 20th of April will see the Round 2 of the Yamaha Thumper-X series hit Pakenham for a day of wheel spinning, dirt flying, aerial action that has to be seen to be believed.
Point's leader Cameron Taylor will be out to prove his round 1 win was no fluke. Aboard his Boost Mobile Yamaha's, Cameron took wins in both the Open class as well as the Lites class.
Looking to make amends for his round 1 result will be the reigning champ- Lee Ellis who is riding for the newly formed Full Throttle Sports Honda team. Also riding for the FTS Honda team is Troy Dorron who finished 3rd overall at round 1. Troy has been on a roll of late with his Supercross wins and is a rider to watch.
In the Pro-Lites class, it was Cameron Taylor again who took the win in this class. Riding double classes on the day meant a grueling day of racing for Cameron but his supreme fitness saw him and his flying Yamaha's at the front of the pack in each race.
Other riders to keep a close eye on are Adam Millar who surprised many with his 2nd place overall at round 1 and Motorex KTM's Cheyne Boyd.
If it's action you want then make sure you catch the 4-wheeler ATV racing. These 4-wheelers are far removed from the farm bikes usually associated with ATV's. On their purpose built racing machines; these guys fly high and slide at full speed around the corners at speeds that would put their 2-wheel brothers to
shame. With full grids in all ATV classes, it will be a wild and bumpy ride for these speed demons.
One class to keep your eyes on is the Women's class. These women will give many a male competitor a run for their money and they don't hold back with the rubbing and bumping on track.
If extreme freestyle action is your thing then we have you covered with the high-flying freestyle motocross demonstrations. Featuring Robbie Felli, Luke Urek, Jono Porter and Cameron Sinclair will be launching themselves up to 30ft in the air while they throw their bikes and bodies into seemingly impossible maneuvers. These guys just don't know the meaning of fear.
Off the track will be a whole host of attractions. To keep the kids happy will be an appearance by the Easter Bunny with a HUGE Easter egg hunt. With over 200 eggs for them to find, the kids will be sure to come home happy and full of chocolate!
For the older kids and adults will be a comprehensive array of motorcycle trade stands to feast your eyes on. You can also save yourself a bundle at the massive accessories clearance sales. With leading brands like FOX, No Fear, Thor and O'Neal at up to 50 off, make sure you bring your shopping trolley! Add to this list the X-Wear girl's, full catering and autograph sessions, and you have a day of fun for the whole family!
