hey just a question which bike do people think are easier to jump cause i believe that 125 would be lighter and easier to throw round but alot of people jump 250 ?

more power with the 250 and i guess ya gotta be in higher gear with a 125

yeh 250s have more power and they would be easyer to learn tricks on becouse they r heavey so it want move around in the air but like yeh said ya could throw a 125 around more

250 Four Stroke ;) It's lighter than 250 2 Strokes and the power is much more reliable

250's are better for jumping. and theres nto that much weight difference in them anyway. i think theres like 8-10kg difference between a kx125 and a yz250

would a 125 be good for a 14-17 year old to do fmx? i am 14 now an in a year or so i am ettin a 125 would that be good instead of a 250 cause it would be a good weight. i am not fat i am skinny.

250 2 stroke if you can handle it.

HILLIER
10th November 2004, 06:09 PM
umm 250s are a bit "easier" beause u dont have to have the thing piping, but 125s are just cool!!!
hahah
farm bikes suck snitz

DirtCowboy
10th November 2004, 06:33 PM
oh no rasy your gonna start the whole farm bike thing all over again hahaha

but mate as far as it goes if your ramping the thing a 250 is a bit easier with the extra power you find it easy but trust me the 250 is a hell of a lot more bike 125 sound awesome and will jump most things a 250 will given enough run up. personally i think you have to work a bit too hard on the 125 but hell it sounds bloody awesome hard on the pipe

HILLIER
10th November 2004, 08:27 PM
yeah im hittin 75ft in 3rd, but robbies got his to go 75ft in 2nd, an that sounds sick when its on the pipe...
i feel hell comfy jumpin my 125 but i suppose if u look at kids jumpin 250s there prolly doin it easier than me, just not as big an not throwin it around as much!!
but im also a lightweight, so the 125 aint too bad, an i dont think robbie would be much heavythan me so its all good!

Peace

DirtCowboy
10th November 2004, 08:30 PM
yeah thats it too i think there is a bit of weight restriction on the 125 to if your gonna be serious on jumping and your over 70kg kiss the 125 idea goodbyes and find your self a 250 and save yourself flogging the ring out of it and going no where

canfieldmulisha
10th November 2004, 09:09 PM
yeh well i am near 70 kilos lol i am gonna start jumping my 125 i guess if i9 am comfortable on it i will get a new one but i really want a 250 bit more power he he well thanks guys for ya help ill see what happens when the ramp gets built

10th November 2004, 09:11 PM
any ideas buys on how much i could get like a 02 03 yz250 next year ? is it worth getting a older 250 they still reliable or go for like a 04 125

[TOPGEAR]
10th November 2004, 09:25 PM
yeh the older 250's are reliable. ive only ever had 1 problem with the engine and thats when i first bought it which was about 1.5 years ago.

canfieldmulisha
10th November 2004, 09:28 PM

a 125 is pretty good it also depends on how big ur going to jump

canfieldmulisha
10th November 2004, 09:40 PM
have no idea how far ill be jumping lol
i have just starting doing 30 footers and stuff that size but never hit a ramp

Skeletor666
10th November 2004, 09:48 PM
i 125 will be pretty good. i was hitting 45 foot on an 86 cr 125. now moving upto 250 in order to hit some comp ramps and other big stuff at like 85 foot or more. a 125 will be good until u feel confident that u can handle a 250 like a 125.

canfieldmulisha
10th November 2004, 09:49 PM

12th November 2004, 10:39 AM
i reckon you should go a yz250f...they look sick and go hard..that's my opinion anyway

FREESTYLEMX17
16th November 2004, 09:37 PM
Yer im having the same problem just thinkin what is better i dont want to spend me money and wish i had me old bike

[TOPGEAR]
16th November 2004, 09:40 PM
they can both do it, just a 250 is easier and requires less runup. u might aswell just get a 250 cause if u got a 125 u will just sell it in like a year and get a 250 anyway. so just go straight to it. i made that mistake.......

FREESTYLEMX17
16th November 2004, 10:01 PM
Yer i have had my 125 for about 2 months and im getting sick of it

17th November 2004, 04:34 AM

yeh i am thinking about getting a ktm 200 sx what are they like is there much more power then a 125 ? i really like the 04 what do the 03 ktm 200 sx look like just wondering on a price for like a 03 model next year :) if anyone could help me out

[TOPGEAR]
17th November 2004, 09:51 AM
above $6500, ktms are expensive to repair aswell. $90 for a brake lever i heard.

why go half way ? just get a 250.

just though i would add..... about 1/3 of customers at work are KTM customers, and its not even a ktm dealership.

125s are just cool to learn tricks

twothreesix
18th November 2004, 01:29 PM
I thought gettin a 200SX would be a good idea, but once you ride a 250 you will never settle for anything less ever again

yeh man i agree with black flag fmx
250's ROCK

xxplosif1
22nd November 2004, 01:58 AM
you're just learning faster when you first ride a 125. no torque, gotta upshift / downshift all the time. ya always gotta be on the clutch for more power. so you develop more slills that way.

250 is sure the way to go, but when you're just starting to ride, a 125 is the best imo.

I like my 125. Im no ramp hitter I just like doin whips out the track. They are fun and help develop throttle control and is much easier when going to to a 250. Unlike most fmx guys get off a mini then on 250 it's a big shock.
So id say get a 125 ride it around for a year or so, then step up to the 250

i went from suzuki 80 to a ktm 125 03 model and i so regret it wish i went straight to 250 the power is not heaps different between 80 n 125 its not that noticeable, but wen i ride my mates 250 so much more power handleing and wayy better suspension.

ive got new suspension on my 125 but it still doesnt feel right ive had it for a yr and i cant adjust to it

plus yeh 125's are light u can like monouver them in the air so easy lol

hell yea a 125 would be good, i love my cr125, i had a 250 for a while but icouldnt get used to it, when ever i went up to a ramp i would wheelie so i say get a 125, plus they are lighter

So what do u mean by that Hillier? What is a 125 better for: a lighter or heavier rider? I'm 15, quite tall and skinny and only weigh about 60kg. I would like to get a 125 but i do a bit of trail riding as well and they would be gay for that.

CanfieldMulisha, KTM 200sx's are sooo rare, i have been looking around for one for about a year, and nothing has turned up! There have only been around 12 '03 and 12 '04 200sx's in Australia and everyone that has one won't sell them cuz they love them sooo much!!! lol

HILLIER

nah i didnt realise how heavy he was. just sayin for a 60kilo kid a 125 is sick!! an theygo hard in the bush just not for a long ride...... carry fuel :)

hey mate u probly already found ur answer (i couldnt be bother readin the whole thread)but i am 13... 45 kg and 161cm high and 125 is perfect ...bit high but that doont matter a f#ck. I've ridden a 2 fiddy and the difference jumpin is u gotta keep the 125 in a higher gear usually around 3rd for anything ova 30 ft haha. the 2 fiddy is alot more powerful and easier to jump higher and longer with a short run up but i think the 125 is easier to do tricks on as, if the bike starts doin the wrong thing u can pull it's head in
thread is a year old.

dude get whatever is best go try out a 250 n see how ya like it cos i had two 250s a cr n yz but hey i went back to a yz125 because they r nice n light to jump n still go alrite, 250s just have a bit more aggression all round. but it doesnt realy matter you can go almost the same distance on a 125 then with a 250, you just got to rev the 125 more.
