Mmmmmmmkay, i was just wondering who out there is superstitious when it comes to crashing when riding. Especially with a new helmet. Do you scratch it somewhere to avoid havin a major crash. I know about 2-3 days after i got my last new helmet i had a massive crash and was rushed off to the hospitsal with a suspected burst blood vessel in my brain. After that one of my mates said 'did ya scratch ya new helmet?, cause it's bad luck ya know, if ya dont scratch a new helmet" I now scratch any new helmets i get, just small ones under the visor or something...........how bout YOU?

I think you should allways drop your helmet before use. Not because of some supernatural power. But because people start this and you think if you dont scratch/drop you helmet you are gonna crash.

And chances are you generally do.

yeh when i got a new helmet i went to a enduro which i race i never worry bout those supersitous things any way i was hammering down a striaght 6th gear tapped on my 85 and the front wheel clipped a rock and thats all i remmeber and when i got up my plastic where all hanging of and i when i got back to the pits i checked my helmet straight awaay and there was no crack or scratch so i dont think it matters but i still do drop my helmets

i never do anything superstitious brfore a ride usually judge my luck up until a ride, thats how i can tell if its gonna be a good ride or not

they say that if you drop your helmet or crash hard with it you should throw it away and buy a new one. i just ride i dont worry about superstition

Just thought I'd add, that sometimes, ya know, just SOMETIMES, i scratch my nuts before a ride, not for luck, 3/4 of the time, it's just cause they're itchy. :D

weel the morning of a race i never read my stars in the sunday paper and everyone knows not to read them to me my mum did once and i had a big stack and kinda dinted my leg bad.
Then theres my lucky blue shorts and lucky red undies (now kinda pink cause been worn a lot)
Then theres the prerace wedgy removalpartly supersticious cause i do it before every race and also comfort cause me lucky red undies also happen to be rushin undies
They my main superstitions dont crack my helmet or nufin like that when i get a new helmet and stack i usually manage to keep my head off the ground so i dont scratch it (must protect the helmet)

first time i wore a new helment, i smashed my face on the bars and still managed to get a scar on my face even with the new helment!

i always check my gas and choke cause kinda scared myself once by jumping my ramp with gas turned off! hit it twice!!!! but the next time on the run up it stopped luckily.

if i am rushed getting my gears on i always feel like im gana crash or smefing but other than that jus ride my damm dirt bike and if it happens, its gana happen.

I scratched my helmet before a ride, not intentionally, when i was onloading my bike my i stepped on the visor and scratched it, i had a great days riding after that aswell, woo hoo!

i always wear the same old helmet....its had some big ones....and its still holding up like new.....a few scratches but nothing major....its a few years old and i love it....ive been offered newer helmets but it doesnt feel right riding wif em....ummmmm....yea helmets these days seem to be totalled after one little stack....where as the ole watermellon still holds strong

i just got a brand new black/chrome fox airframe armour havent even paid for it yet and fell off racing yesterday to avoid running over oldmates head and scratched the shit outta the thing

I dont have any little superstitions, i just close my eyes and put the throttle full revs and somehow everything works out for me, i always wake up in this comfy bed with white sheets, and the room im in smells bad and there is some guy always there in this white coat standing at the side of the bed, he always says "You was very lucky this time", but i dont know why, i didnt win anything i dont think?

i found that if u start your bike and wrap your lips around the exaust and breath in the fumes before a ride it makes u ride better.

i ALWAYS put my right boot on before my left. dunno how or why that started, but now i gotta do it.

i've also got this lucky charm thingo that was given to me after my serious crash last year, which i ride with in the pocket of me baggies. havnt hurt myself yet since i've had it :) but i don't wanna become to reliant on it just incase i lose it :toilet2:

I used to always ride in a pair of Australian flag boxer shorts... Until I came off my road bike and went under a BMW whilst my bike wrapped itself around the end of a 2 week old Audi... Crashing in Sth Yarra sucks.. Now I dont have any superstitions or lucky charms except somtimes I talk to my bike but that makes me crazy I think not lucky.. lol
