finally started to actually build my new ramp ... well cut up the metal to size anyway .... its gunna be pretty much a rev. 1 but i've modified it a bit to take out the hump in the design and to make it strong enough as i'm using different steel. I've gotten all of the steel for free so far and the only extra bits i need are for the cross members, so it should work out pretty cheap. I'll scan my self drawn plans if anyone's interested and i'll take a few photos of the construction and put em up if i can be bothered!!!

ok heres my plans everyone .... the numers along the bottom is the height of the curve at every 12 inches ... if your gunna use the plans they're the numbers you'll need. The numbers above the curve are the lengths of the supports i'm using to make the curve at the height i want it ... and the angles are the angle of the curve at each 2 feet .....

so far i've cut up the metal for the transitions and am pretty much ready to start welding.

oh yeah measurments are in mm ... and if you cant read em they go (from right to left) : 40, 40, 65, 90, 121.25, 158.75, 202.5, 271.25, 352.5, 465, 602.5, 733.75, 858.75, 1040, 1208.75, 1415, 1616, 1865, 2115, 2327.5

and the angles are (from top to bottom) : 38*20', 38*20', 38*20', 34*10', 30*15', 32*7', 22*37', 14*2', 7*43', 5*21' 4*46'. (* = deegrees, ' = minutes)

the angles and dimensions on the plans are pretty precise so i just cut em to the nearest degree and millimetres.

don't have a digi camera so haven't go any pics yet ... will try and borrow a friends, but so far all i've done is cut up the steel for the transitions and all the upright ones etc to the right angles so can start weldin em up as soon as the old man brings his welder home, which should be this weekend so can start welding monday hopefully!

can u tell me the closest constant radius of the angles.....i dont understand how u have them in the degrees and crap. It is a good size ramp, i have never hit a ramp and am looking at building one that big

its not a constant radius ... it's an eliptical radius .... the angles arer how steep the ramp is from horizontal at each point and are measured in degrees and minutes ... so just ignore the minutes and use the degrees.

wow this is an old thread!
