Well, i dont have any "free" or "cheap" steel, but i do have some advice. When it comes to ramps and especially building them yourself, 2 words come to mind "DON'T SKIMP". Ramps are 1 of those things in life that NEED to built 110% properly or it could end in sereous injury. I'd suggest waiting till ya have the needed money to build a Good 1. These things are rather expensive. Oh and dont use Wood for the frame, whatever ya do.

Yeah, stick to the dirt and build up your skills for a few years.

use a metal frame m8 and a woodin top and ull be jumpin away in no time. the best place to get steel from is to break into a steel factory and steal it m8.

Ok, I dont condone stealing. Shame on you for even suggesting it Simo. if ya cant afford it Globe, dont buy it, simple as that. Like Quadkiller said, stick to dirt. All it takes is a little lookin after once the ramp has been made. and for GODS SAKE, if ya cant weld it together DONT USE ANYTHING ELSE PLEASE, for your safety. this is a freestyle motocross ramp we're talkin about that takes sereous punishment from bike and weather. I've said it before and I'll say it again, a ramp is something that needs to be built 110% properly!!! i cant stress that enough.

i got all my steel for free from council clean up time ... its not rhs tubed steel but is angle iron which is good to weld and still pretty strong ... but cause its not as strong as the tube stuff you need heaps more supports to make to ramp strong enough

well, like I've been told many a time during my life "Ya cant always get what ya want" so if it comes down to it, ya might have to go rampless, cause i mean if ya dont have any dirt, no steel, and even if ya DID have steel, ya still dont have any way of holding it together, then it might come back to the old school saying "tough titties" Sorry bro, but those are the breaks. I'm only thinkin of your safety here man, i dont mean to be so negative :(

haha
actually after thinking in all my experience with welding the best way ive found to do it is to combine the sludgy stuff out of washing machines and masking tape
works a treat
