Insane
7th February 2003, 10:25 AM
Full Throttle Sports is proud to announce it’s running of round 2 of the Australian Supercross Championships at Avalon Speedway, 8th of February 2002 at 7pm.
Australia’s best Supercross racers will battle it out over a 1200 meter long man made torture track, filled with huge 70 foot jumps and bone jarring bumps.
A breading ground for world-class talent such as Chad Reed and Michael Byrne, the Australian Supercross Championships always provides the closest of bar-bashing racing that leaves every spectator on the edge of their seat.
FTS/Honda's Troy Dorron feels the full force of a competitors roost
This year the racing action has a new sound, with the big booming 4-strokes allowed to compete with the traditional 2-strokes. With each type of bike having its strong and weak points, the fight will be on to see who ends up top dog.
One of the Pro-Open (250 2-strokes and 450 4-strokes) riders appearing will be Geelong local- Troy Dorron.
A veteran of the sport at just 29 years of age, Troy has only recently moved to the FTS/Honda team and has shown great form in his return from injury, with 2 podium places already in 2003.
Pushing Troy all the way to the finish will be a a pack of talented rider’s like-
Lee Hogan and Cameron Taylor - Boost Mobile/Yamaha
Jay Marmont and Cheyne Boyd - Motorex/KTM
Shane Metcalfe - O’Neal/Honda
Danny Ham and Jono Porter - Team Suzuki
Nathan Crawford and Jason Andrews - Team Kawasaki
The Pro-Lites cause mayhem in the first corner
These riders plus a whole host of others are just champing at the bit to grab their slice of glory and fame.
The Pro-Lites class (125 2-strokes and 250 4-strokes) is often seen as a breading ground for the younger riders, but someone forgot to tell them that! Young and lacking in fear, these guys often put on the best show for the night. Look for reigning champion Troy Carrol to show the younger guys the way.
Believe it or not but Luke Urek (above) has his bike fully under control
Between the supercross races will be the insane freestyle shows.
World-class freestylers- Jono Porter, Luke Urek and Cameron Sinclair will be putting on their jump shows between the races which is sure to keep the crowd on their feet!
Without fear, the freestylers will be throwing their motorcycles up and over the massive 80ft jumps, flinging their bikes and bodies in seemingly impossible manoeuvres.
These guys will be flying so high we might just have to get them an air clearance from Avalon Airport!
Also appearing will be the Yamaha Girls (sure to turn a few heads), trade exhibitions, a massive motocross accessories trackside clearance sale plus the spectacular fireworks show.
Racing action starts at 7pm with gates opening at 5pm.
Ticket prices-
Kids $15 (under 15)
Adults $20
Family $60 (2 Adults + 2 Kids)
Location-
Avalon Speedway is located just 25 minutes from Melbourne down the Princess Freeway (Geelong Road) or 20 minutes from Geelong.
