i was just wondering what types of riding everybody liked.

is it the natural terrain jumps that you see with your own eye and carve yourself into the hills, or the kind where you drive to your local track and have pre built courses for you. or are you just a ramp guy, and all you will hit is ramps, ramps, or more ramps?

personally, i love natural terrain hits. me and my friend are building a fat 70+ foot table step down kinda thing down the street from me. i'd rather ride natural terrain then ramps anyday. just to be out in the nature.. plus it makes a video clip 10 times better to see some guy flying off a huge natural lip then a ramp. but thats just my opinion

( haha listen to me... being one with nature. im quite the little martha stewart arent i? )

no one else has anything to add? psssh com'on dont be shy.

anyways.

(update on my natural terrain jump)

we just put a thick layer of clay mudd on the slope we are using for our ramp. and tomarrow we are going to form our lip into it. and then clear our landing out. which is going to be HUGE. 45 feet across by at least 60 feet down at a perfect slope. and we took my big 100' foot tape messure out. and its 80 feet to the part where the landing starts. i will get pictures up pretty soon. ( god i love california's natural terrian possiblities.)

i just went out and tested my lip( which is only like 5 1/2 foot tall give or take.) and it is PERFECT, it is going to spit the rider 80+ feet easy. the transition is perfect. the runway needs a tiny bit of work. and we need to finish the landing but we are 60% done. and it is so nice. i wish everyone could come out and hit it with me. lol.

I'd just like to touch up the definition of freeriding first, freeriding is anything you do on your bike, it doesn't have to be natural terrain, it's FREE, could be track riding but not racing, ramp riding, blasting around wherever it's all freeriding. With that out of the way I prefer ramps, where I live there is nothing by way of natural hits, and there's no track either. We have a small track at our house along with ramps, but I really only use the ramps most of the time since that's what I enjoy most. Also I find today's idea of natural terrain pretty funny, it seems like as long as it's made out of dirt and not a track it's natural. I've seen people digging and using machinery to change the land around to make a jump then still call it a natural hit. In my eyes it's only natural if you rock up and hit the thing and it's fine without you ever touching it. You do something to it, it becomes a man made jump. Personal opinion though I don't really care I love ramps.

Natural Terrain for sure when you can get it. The kind where you sculpt a kicker into the side of a hill. Step down natural hits are fun becuase most of the time you have a huge hill side landing and you can go asbig or little as you want.

the only thing we did to our natural terrain hit was take out the bush's and roots from the lip. and we cleared a path through the bush's so we could get speed. and we are clearing out a HUGE landing. BUT the landing is in the shape of the land its sloped perfectly. and once i saw the land. i knew its possibilities. and i plan on building more dirt jumps there.

my idea of freeriding is anything without rules. or a straight garentee'd path. like a track is one way. you have to go round, and round. i have freeriding sessions on my street. me and my friend just get on our bikes and practice stupid stuff like rolling stoppies, and we are practicing our 180 nose wheelie thing( but with not much luck ).

i also have another question.

in video's , which do you get more of a kick off? seeing crazy kids do crazy shit off ramps, or seeing them do natural things?

( this is my personal opinion, but i think ramps are over rated. it would be fun to have one. but it kinda would get boring to get launched the same way every single time. the ramps lip never change's or anything, so you already know what to expect. with natural stuff you always have to be on your toes. always alert, because if you dont your gonna be on your ass in a second. all the new people in FMX are just ramp kids. thats all they know. they might be super good in staduim comps on their ramps. but you get them at the track or out in hills, and they totally suck and have no idea how to handle something thats not always perfect. but once again.. thats just my opinion, you can agree with it or not. and i dont want to start anything between anyone... thats just what i personally think..)

yea, in motocross you push yourself to go faster and faster. but you see the same stuff everytime. nothing change's your stuck on the track with only one direction to go. and in racing everyone is so serious, no one looks like they are enjoying themselves. ( dont get me wrong. anything on a dirtbike is fun, but with racing its just work work work work. no play. even though riding is kinda playing. i dunno? does anyone get what im sayin?)

I know what you mean about it looks like they aren't having fun but everyone usually is unless they have a problem with their bike. Some guys (and girls) do take it way to serious, but I have a great time raceing even though I really suck at it.:D

yea, anything is fun. ( as long as it works right )

for you racer people... how do you do it? doesnt it cost a crap ton of money to enter a race, them compete. and then you still have VP race gas to buy which is like $5.00 a gallon. then you also have other stuff you need to fix on the bikes. are you all broke. or do you just own banks?

our spot got raided by the fuzz. so we had to tear everything down. we arent allowed to ride there anymore. if they see us, we will be arrested on the spot. has this happened to anyone else? because this really sucks...

natural terrain absolutly rocks i reckon...and sand dune ridin. but you always need a good ramp jump.cause with a ramp it's the same pretty much everytime but thats the good thing about natural terrain it changes all the time.so im a bit of both....i dont like racing though sorry racers
