I know a MIG welder is what is supposed to be used but if i got a really good welder to weld would a Stick weler do the job? The only bikes hitting it would be a fifty and an 85.

yes it would still work but you would have to put more reinforcements in just to be on the safe side.

You just ring up and try to sound like a sweet little innocent person. Say "Hey my name is DONALD DUCK(just eg dont really say that) and i am trying to build a motorbike jump. I was just wondering if you had any steel i might be able to have" Some will say yes, others wont. One fella took lengths of 10m and cut it up for me, all brand new stuff.

a stick welder is fine mate, i'm using one for my ramp, personally i would use a drop saw or or something else other than a angle grinder to cut the slits, heres a pic of my ramp at the moment.:p

true that, always relodin the bloody thing, weldin the curve was a bit of a f*ck around cause i was workin in a small area had to move the whole bit of steel up and back and reclip the earth evry weld, also forgot ventilation, and left roller door shut i almost passed out when i stood up lol.
oh sorry forgot to answer ya height question, its 5.5ft tall and 13ft somethin long, moto of course heh heh i wouldnt bother usin 40x40x3 for a pushy ramp lol.
