View Full Version : Ramp Plans: how much would you pay?

With the amount of ramp plan threads around and it being a constant question that is asked over and over...My question is this:
"How much would you be willing to pay for complete CAD (Computer Aided design) plans of "custom" ramps? (Custom: Any dimensions you desire\)
As in, you tell me the basic dimensions you want your ramp to be, (Height and Length, and rough transition) and I will draw up detailed To scaled (1:100) plans with all measurementa available, everything fom the basic height, length and transition, down to Steel dimensions, steel wall dimensions, weld points, face material used, Total Steel length required and estimated cost. What you would get would be:
* side on view
* back view
* face view
* bottom view
* and a projected solid 2D model (3D looking, but not rotatable)
* List of parts (each steel length Eg. "length - 610cm x 2")
So yeah, for that complete detailed package of plans for your specific custom ramp you want to build...how much do you think would be a fair price?...if any.

Well Brad, I've done a little research to see what ballpark figure I'd be willing to pay for Custom Ramp Plans. And suprisingly, people are paying US$250 for ramp plans over in the states!!
I would be happy to pay AU$70 or so for full plans. Hopefully that's not too cheap for plans professionally done??

yeah 70-100AUS would be alright, but i am cheap and can figure it out myself, but the plans that are for sale in america are full step by step instructions, with sample peices of stel, mesh, stell metal and welding instructions for individual welders and all other misc information.
rev 3 ramps plans with all of the above can be purchased from eddie bright, he is the australian dealer of fmxramps.com ramps and plans.

What's the deal with that kid anyways? He's like 15, looks 10, and he's a writter for FreeriderMX, gets to judge a lot of shit, and now i hear he's the dealer for fmxramps.com.....My theory is he's a testube baby owned by the FMX mafia and designed for freestyle media missions. Crazy ass, lucky mofo he is :)

Hey,
I think those prices sound pretty good, not that I would pay for them, but that is only because I can just make my own Autocad drawings. But I do know the difficulty and time that must be spent to make these drawings so that price would be a good deal.

its a good idea and 70-100 sounds good. and it would also be a good idea 2 make plans 4 like an aussie comp ramp and rev 1,2 etc and sell those aswell cause i would pay 4 those and would make it very easy for people who dont know much about ramps instead of trying 2 think of the height, trans etc for custom plans

If you dont know much about ramps, then I wouldnt be buying one.
And you cannot re-sell a rev 2 and 3. And I would assume you cannot re-sell a rev 1 without giving a % to Rick from fmxramps.

Well, i guess I'll go with the audience on this one and say D) $70, Lock it in Eddie. You can send details to BCDesigns Here (bcdesigns@austarnet.com.au) and I'll get started on em straight away.
You supply me with the basic measurements and specs you want (Length, Height, Transition and Steel dimensions you want used Eg. 40x40x3) and I'll send you the following once payment has been confirmed:
ALL 100% TO SCALE 1:100 (Units in CM, 1mtr = 100 units"cm")
* 2D, 3D projection model (JPG Format)
* Side on pic (jpg Format)
* Bottom pic (jpg Format)
* Face pic (jpg Format)
* Original AutoCAD files "Jpg equivelent" (Dwg Format: CAD only readable)
* TXT Document of materias used. Labelled accordingly to diagrams Eg. steel length numbered "1" on text document, refers to corrisponding steel length labelled "1" on diagram. (total steel length and estimated cost, judged by my local prices of materials at time of plan creation)
Payment can be made using Money Order, Personal Cheque or Direct Transaction, which ever is easiest for you. I'll give ya details for those when/if you email me.
Um. yeah, i think that's about as professionally as i can put it. I'll slap up an "example" pic of the sorta stuff you'd be getting. I've done these for someone who will remain nameless, but I'll just put em up to show what the sort of thing you'll be getting. These are also not 100% complete yet, and are without steel labels
Now, these are only resized jpg pics, but are still 100% to scale as they are just resized screenshots of the AutoCAD plans.
* Side on Kicker 5m x 3m trans: 6.3m
* Side on Kicker Attached to Trailor
* 2D, 3D projection Model.

No Im not saying at all that you are s**t house at making ramp plans? Your probly realy talanted at it. But my-self? well Im only now getting to no the pencil and paper side of it. But I can do the practical side quite easlly. My point was that I only have a part-time job and I can't fork out any Money for ramp plans, so I would probly ask around a bit. Maby you should, Sell the plans more if they have like the tv,sv,bv,av,fv. and less for the sv and the tv?? Just a idea? But buy all means Im not trying to knock you at all.

I can see where ya went wrong, and yes, i am the one doing the plans, as no other company does custom ramp plans for the individual, they're just the standard comp/kicker plans/ramps. So yes, that is why i got offended, by all means, if someone else out there can do them and wants to make them, by all means, it's just i didn't take to kindly to someone saying i dont know what I'm doin. Then again, doesn't matter if i was the one doin em or not, whoever was to make em, i would hope they'd know what they were doing to offer to sell them. Anywho, what's this "tv,sv,bv,av,fv" theory you have thrown out there?...care to share what that actually is, or what they stand for.

Ok lol at school we use these terms as tv=top view, sv=side view, bv=back view, av=acute view, and fv=frount view :)

Ah yes, good old school days of graphics lol. i remember those days..no wait, no i dont. anyways, yes, as i said, I do, do the face view, side view, bottom view, and a 2D projection of it, which is basically the same.
