hey guys another dilema i have around a 5,500 budget however im undecided weather to go a yz125 or a yz250 im turning 17 in 1 month but im only 65 kilo's a the max i was wondering wat you guys think i can ride well and i handle a yz450f 06 model fine although my old 2000 model yz125 i handle even better so i am definately getting a newer bike because im selling my 450 to do freestyle wat would be better to learn on a yz125 or a yz250 also yz125s are cheaper and with 5,500 i could get a good 07 model and kit it out with pipes suspension and put white tank and graphics on it and the yz250 i would maybe just get the graphics wat do you guys think i should do ?? which is easyer to learn freestyle on because i can always uprgade when im a bit older and ALOT BETTER

well i reckon a yz125 bit small and lighter easyer to throw around and stuff and your pretty light to and you can always sell the yz125 and buy a 250 if you don't like but test ride both of them and choose what you like:)

Hmm i rekon a 250 would be the way to go, If your trying to get into freestyle, a 125
would lack a bit of power and youd probs get bored of it seems you ride 450's around.

hey mate , i went through the same problem aswell, I would go with a 250 if i was you... when you test ride it it`ll be powerful as hell !!! but if you ride a 450 no probs.... the main thing to remember that FMX is involved with accidents and doing that a 4 stroke costs alot more and cost more come rebuild time and that coming off all the time, 2 strokes are way easy to fix and maintain. A 250 is the standed bike for freestyle motocross and jumps 75ft in 2nd gear 3/4 throttle. a 125 will hit 65ft no prob but wen its time for 75 its going to need a longer run up then usual. As other members have said give both a go and get a feel for them and have your own choice.... also a 125 will loose its value more quick (cause they were slowly phasing 2 strokes out) a 250 will hold it for a while. for that price your looking anything from 06 to 08. Check everything including cracks , foot pegs, air filter, tires and move the swing arm and see if it moves side to side if it does that stay clear of that dirtcycle . hope this all helps mate good luck

if its a 06 or newer 250 you shouldnt need to touch the suspension either

hey mate. Youve probs bought the bike by now... but i'll throw my 2 cents in anyway.
I had the same dillema as you when i was 17. i ended up going with the 125. dont get me wrong its been great. but im finding it really fustrating having to take a bit longer run up, and riding with guys that are on 250 that make it look like a breeze.. As what "doddsy" said, he's right on the money.
In my view go for the 250
Good luck

Another 2 cents worth...
As many people have said, you are used to riding the 450 and can handle that. I would run with the 250 mate, as the difference in power, is much better than the difference in weight, when you look at it in ratios. The better to haver that little more weight, much with alot more power.

for your age 125 is just too small and probably better off using the power of a yz250 there power is almost the same as a 450cc bike in a short distance so much much better for jumping.
so if you want to get into freestyle i would go with the Yz250 thats what i recently bought.
and if you race aswell the yz250's feel silly on race track because everyoen has four bangers, you still can dominate if you just twist that throttle and brake late as you can. Hole shots are easy :shades: with my bike.
and again also if you ride a 450f then the 125 is going to feel that slow. very boring very fast.
hope this helped.
