Righto, this post has been a long time coming. I have had many a person comment to me about the amount of non relative, short, one word, pointless replies in these forums, which I have, on every occasion, agreed with, and yet taken no action towards. I have tonight alone, had to delete, close to 30 posts, of nothing but "yer", "yup", "cool" "lol" (yes, some things are funny, we giggle, and yet, there is no need to post a single three letter word to inform us all of this, unless you have a valid comment after it, like, I dunno, maybe something along the lines of WHY you found it funny, maybe then it'll at least make the post worth while. It is also quite pointless to post a single 3 letter "lol" reply to something that is in no way funny) "mmmmm" (Forums are for general discussion about the topic at hand, not a place to let the readers know you mumble to yaself, you either have a point or opinion to add, or you don't) "?" ( is it that hard to ask a complete question, that some people are that lazy they think a question mark alone passes for a complete question...stupid questions, get stupid answers people....so how stupid of an answer can you get to a question that isn't asked?...riddle me THAT batman) or to a stupider extent "yew"...for which I'm sure I'm not the only one here that has no friggin idea what the hell that means..maybe if ya put more of em together.."yew, yew...yew"...nope, still no sense.
There has been some debating on the boards as to punctuation, spelling and grammar...for which this point goes hand in hand with.. "yew" is not found in the English dictionary, we are an English speaking community, so if you cant string a word together out of 26 letters that makes sense, or is a well known "slang" term that most will understand...then don’t.
If the mini_me post count debarkle that went down not so long ago has taught me nothing else....and it hasn't,....it's that, for some odd reason, which I still, to this day, do not get, is that kids live for two magical words...."Post Count." This I feel is the main reason for stupid single replies that are not only a waste of space, but a waste of time for both the poster and myself, as you take the time to post 3 little letters, and yet it takes me the same time to click a little delete box...and as simple as this sounds, compile, as I said 15 to 20 posts and you have yourself one almighty waste of my time.
As much as this is sounding like me having a winge, I assure you, if it wasn't for the ongoing complaints from members and readers of these forums, then I’d probably let it slide, sigh to myself and continue deleting and editing on my own merry way. It is one of my main concerns here at FMXAustralia to make sure I can keep as many of the members happy as I can, which I think and hope you agree, I have done more than a decent job of, and when a high majority of those members start complaining about their time spent reading through nonsense posts, then obviously it's annoying more than just myself and something needs to be addressed about the situation.
Obviously this isn't directed towards everyone, or in the same turn, no one in particular, it is only a small majority of members, who will remain user-nameless that feel they need to reply to everything, no matter how pointless their reply is. To those members I may remind you that it is QUALITY over QUANTITY..now that statement may seem really hypocritical coming from the one member that has the most posts, but I assure you, if it wasn't for me helping damn near everyone on this site, with damn near any problem that arose when I 1st joined, then my post count would be rather low, hence, Quality over quantity. I don’t post anywhere near as much as I use to, for the pure fact that more members are stepping up and helping where they can, for which I thank you all and commend you for making this site grow :).
Another point on the same topic is that we have over 3000 members here, and although not all of them post on a regular basis, or at all in some cases, I assure you 3/4's of the non active members read through our posts and take away a lot of information from them, but have the maturity to know that if they don’t have anything decent to add, then they just don’t.
Righto, this is turning into a long winded winge, so I'll just wrap it up with, if you don’t have anything decent to add to a thread, then don’t, as all it does is annoy regular members that read almost everything, and it'll be deleted anyways. Think before you post. and if all your useless single worded replies are in the soul purpose of raising your post count, then you will find that those little numbers will disappear.
PS. Don’t shoot the messenger, as I said, if it wasn't for the ongoing complaints about this subject I would let it slide. I am simply bringing the point to you all, as one half of the main authority here, I feel it is my duty, as it is me that people ask to do something about it, and obviously, even though there are about 12 or 13 so-called "mods", only 2 of us will actually do something about problems.
Peace.

As my hard rockin' amego has Stated with definetly a Uni Assignments worth of words and information, it has been a problem since day 1, but most of you wouldn't know about any of it.
I had no idea what Brad did for this site before Moderator-ship powers were passed down to me, and now i see myself reading every single thread and every single post to weed out the crap, delete posts, resize copious amounts of HUGE pictures. All in the name of keeping the place looking somewhat a Heavenly place :).
So yes, usually stuff like this would slide, but with complaints, Brad has had to pretty much resort to putting up that explanation of many deletions around the place, purely to keep it running smoothly and keeping everyone happy.
And no Kyle, that will slide :p
Cheers guys, lets keep it to useful, inciteful information that will help out everyone

i would post something but i feel it would be worthless and not wanting to offend and annoy the two of you especially Brad as he stalks round the site at nite looking for someone to punish, not that i'm saying its wrong but sometimes sir Mungo you can be a lil harsh and a lot of the times ur sarcasm reads off our charts, HOWEVER......You're ideas are intriguing to me and i wish to subscribe to your newsletter :D

A Sarcasm detector...Oooh.. thats a REAL useful invention
Tick tick tick tick BOOM!!!
Hahaha... It's actually working out quite well at the moment TMD. I pretty much wake up and jump on around 10:30ish these days and sit on here til late at night (Ahh the joys of being injured and being incapable of carrying out daily chores ;)) And then Brad comes online at night time, and between the 2 of us I know, we know what is happening and jump on pointless posts and have them ousted before most users even know it was there. It's just that we've had a couple of complaints today when I wasn't online and it probably needed to be addressed thats all, just to inform you all that you know, this is what we do everyday, we play it cool and not worry about it, just expect it and delete it. Like Brad said before, if the complaints didn't come in, he wouldn't have typed that up simply.
And lisa, most of your posts are pointless and offending not only to me, but my helper monkey also :p HAHA Ahh you wisecracking little skamp, go on, run along now haha.
Have fun guys, thats why we're here, we love nothing more than to see more and more people posting and getting involved :afro:

Well with recent spate of problems with people making new threads with absolutely no content at all, asking stupid questions that has been asked over and over, and replies that contain a smily face, I think it's time for people who haven't seen this thread, to scroll right to the top, and have a little look and read carefully.
Don't confuse this with posting and having fun, showing appreciation for pictures, video and whatever for other members who take time out of their days to give you information to look at to pass your time on here so-to-speak. We want as much activity as possible, but constructive activity is the key.
Anyway, Brad explained it quite well at the top, so have a read please :)

yew, is hard to explain, its like sorta saying yeaaaaah!!!!! when someone does something mad or cool, and it can be used as sarcasm to ridicule ones actions, ie. a goony trick.
like if somones says:
"And a big one footer"
someone may reply to that as:
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeww!
to ridicule them.

you dont get it do you ?? u just made a pointless post. if you can read all that and what other people have to say, you shouldnt be here. and dont say u do read what other people say cause half the time when you post something, no one knows what you are talking about.
you cant read all that, just think about the time that brad put into writing it. probably would of taken 2 or even 3 or 4 times longer than what it would have if you were reading it.

"post whore?" thats a hella funny word dude!,
ive noticed a few "nite owls" that post because there so bored and hardly anyones on- either way, when i wake up the next day, a thread that was only like 4 or 5 pages long when i last saw it has turned into something with 30 pages of " ....oh, im so bored" and blah blah blah, the thing is when they say "im so bored" its just there to fill that empty gap, it almost comes across as they hate being in their own company!!! its NUTZO!!!!
thanx 4 letting us kno ur bored A MILLION AND FRIGGEN ONE TIMES!!!! Ill remember that when im doing something fabulous and exciting to relieve my boredom!!!!....... sorry, just dropped another 2 cents into the tin, heh heh :)

It's funny, and yet rather annoying that i wrote this shit over 5 months ago and yet some of our regulars are only just seeing it....
many people have been saying to me they dont want to see this place get anywhere near the state of FMTX, and acompanying my previous lil post earlier this evening about losing motivation and interest here, a lot more people have piped up about their annoyance towards the increase of bullshit being posted here that they have to sift through to get to the real posts, and to please help and not give up....
So to keep this simple and kill the 2 biggest annoying birds with 1 stone, here's what's gunna be happening. I'm not warning, I'm telling....
1) In the constant even of double posts within minutes of eachother, the 2nd post WILL be deleted. I dont give a shit if it was a legitimate question, you're not retarded or blind, If you can mange to find this site, sign up and find your way into the forums, you can damn well find and make use of the EDIT button, it's there for a reason. Anything you write here, remains YOUR words and YOUR property, and you DO have the ability to edit or delete your own posts....keep that in mind.
and
2) pointless shit, decided upon by mine and quite possibly Steve's discression will be deleted. This is to the few post whores we have.
Get it?, got it? good.

I saw it when you first put it up, just only now felt it necessary to post in here about what I felt, if that makes you feel any better man... Unless you weren't talking about me. But yes I'm all for the hard edge approach as you've probably read elsewhere. Sorry to make another post in here just wanted to clear that up.
Mungoman45
24th November 2004, 03:05 AM
lol, na it's ok Grant, wasn't directed at you chief ;).
It's kinda sad that it's come to this "hard edged approach" as you've put it, as I'd much rather just cruise through and edit and move the odd thing every 5 or 10 posts, and be the cool, calm and collected mod i have been for very close to 2 years.... however, with the size this site has gotten, and the amount of constant "input" the regulars have now, the constant dribble that's left uneditted, is not a matter of myself or steve slacking off in the work department, it's just the fact that it's too much work for 2 people to handle. FMXAus is no longer the small tight nit commuinity of regulars we once were...which SHOULD be a good thing...
So in order to try and restore some order here, and, as many a member has stated, keep this place a friendlier, cleaner place than FMTX is, some of their rules it seems have to be adopted.
Having said that, some of you who were paying attention, which wont be the retards that are too lazy to read a post longer than 3 words long, which is good, cause it's not directed at you anyways....i mentioned that this site has grown and requires the help of more than just 2 people. So as soon as Adam gets back to his PC from wherever the hell he is, and has 5min to spare, I'm gunna drill it into him that he needs to get rid of 8,9, 10 or so of the other "mods" and replace them with some new breed regulars who have proved themselves to be mature, responsible people who wouldn't mind lending a hand, so Grant, and Pete, I'm lookin in your direction at the moment. :)

I'm willing. This place has been home for 2 years and I really don't want to see it just slowly decline in the years to come.
When you think about it, FMXaus is pretty darn lenient when it comes to whats being posted and what goes on. However if all the crap continues it probably won't be for much longer. I personally don't want it to turn into another FMTX and I'm sure none of you want that either.

Grant and Pete have definetly done the right thing for quite a long time now, and it feels as if they're like the big brother in here to start with lol.
On saying that, being a Mod isn't the most fun in the world, sifting through each post and seeing if there is going to be a fight starting or not, downloading every picture that is too big for a page, then resizing it, cropping it, saving it and then reposting it with a little Edit note in there, all this takes up time, and when you have people just putting in stupid posts it takes even more time to go through and delete copious amounts of stuff, and then add to the fact there are some individuals who we have banned previously who stated that "they hate the site and anyone thats on it" but for some weird reason they keep trying to join back up... obviously because they have such sad lives that they need to argue on the internet? lol... So another job is me scanning all new members IP address to see if they happen to be old members trying to rejoin after they've been banned, and Yes, we do catch them out.
Brad and I come online and go through every post each, as we're both on at different times of the day, and for the most part, it has worked out very well. When I was granted the powers of Mod-ship lol, I was out due to injury, so I got to spend 12 hours a day on the net, so things were very much cleaner back then as I'd be onto any little problem within 5 minutes of any post haha. But now I'm almost fit again, riding, wakeboarding, working and what not, so that "Child Care, overlooking everything system" isn't as controlled as before, and now we're hoping that most kids have graduated out of Child Care into Primary school or something where we can let them do their own thing, hopefully they will.
Anyway for the time being, I'm gonna stop there, as I have other more important things to do, and me and Brad will organise some arrangements of how to beef security up around these places :)

G'day guys, just giving this thread a little bump to the top.
We've had a few people asking as of late "where have my posts gone" and so forth, so I just wanted to let you know that this thread is already made, have a read of the very first, quite long post that Brad made halfway through last year.
We as moderators enjoy everyone's input, it's a mere token of appreciation that you all come here, as it means we're doing our job well.
So if a post of yours does happen to disappear once or twice, then more than likely a moderator has just cleaned the page up, and if it wasn't on-topic, then it may have been deleted. We will endeavour to Private Message anyone after we have deleted something (or we deemed unsuitable), or even let you know in the thread that it is getting off topic, but we don't always have that time up our sleeve, but 9 times out of 10 we will.

hey do u think that mayb someone could fix up the homepage for this website, cause everytime i try to get on to this website it always has that stupid (no offence) intro that doesnt even work and u always have to press skip intro or view large intro. and guess wot i viewed it for the first time today and it wasnt that great. i reckon some1 should fix it so it doesnt show an intro at all, or just make up a new one that people would like to watch.
thanks.
