These guys do some pretty helpful video's. I did my first 2 stroke top end the other day using the info from one of the videos. Here's the four stroke rebuild...

Ditto on that. Alot of reading and watching the 2 stroke rebuild videos from RockyMountain gave me the confidence to do my first bottom (and top) end rebuild. They also have some pretty nice Tusk tools which can help you out alot.
Have your bike manual close by for torque and other important specs along the way.

Are you talking about the ring-end gap? You'll need a set of feeler gauges to measure something like that. Usually it should be within specs if you send your (new) piston and rings away with your cylinder to get it replated/resleeved (if needed).

if you dont have tools just take the barrel into ya local moto shop and get em to measure it up, then get them to order the piston and rings. its easy as to rebuild em, 4 strokes arnt that bad, just them dang valves get annoying! haha

Dont no if it will b that easy, shops are usually pretty stingy rnt they and
wont they only order em if they get to do the rebuild em or??
But it sounds like a good idea i'll take it in and get em to measure it and
order the rings n shit but if they gonna make it a hasstle and try charge
me for stupid things then i'll tell em to get stuffed

the ones i go to are pretty good..
when i was doing my 4 banga i had to put a new cm chain on aswell and didnt have a flywheel puller so just went to the moto shop payed em $10 and they let us use one.. haha
but then again we know most the people who run the shops so, still worth a try tho. rebuilding them tho isnt all that hard just gotta have patience
