04 crf 450 grab holes

hey ive got a 2004 honda crf 450 and i was learnin seat grabs on my 125 but it blew up and now im riding a crf and was wondering if i can make grab holes by pushing the air box in and cable tying it in the middle like you can with newer crfs or if i just have to cut it fully but i dont really want to do that cause i ride trails some times and dont really want to tape it or get a new air box!
