i know this is a stupid question, but iv had the race stand for since chrissy, n i just cant get the knack of putting my bike on it.
the stand iv got is the one in the bottom right corner

iv tried lifting the back on but i cant get it high enough, and what i end up doin each time is lifting up the front and rolling it on, which is a pain in the butt. any help would be awesome. thanks

yeh i found liftin the front wheel is easiest aye, just put the stand on an angle to your bike and spin it on the back wheel

place the stand between you and the bike (you standing over the front wheel, facing the front number plate, if you know what i mean) grab the front brake with your left hand and with your right hand lift the bike by the bottom of the fork, once its up push the stand under the bike with your leg and place the bike back down, thats how i do it, hope it helps mate

ha ha...mate of mine was trying to get the hang of that a few weeks back,almost ended in tears as he came close,but kept clippiing the edge of the stand against his frame;doh;
Back to it though,Ive always found it easiest (although youve said youv tried,not sure how you were doing it) standing behind the bike,to the left (choose whats easiest for you) and grabbing the rear wheel with my right hand and holding the rear fender just near the where your side panel is and putting it on the stand that way.
All the best,

i stand on the side of the bike and grab the bottom of the bike swingarm or wheel wateva u wanna use and lean the bike towards me and swing it on so i get the edge on and then just push it vertical till it sit still, it just takes practise and u will get it with ease and same spot everytime

Stand on the side of the bike
Put your right hand as close to the start of the rear fender on the opposite side.
Hold the left grip with your left hand.
With the stand next the bike, ( In order of, you, bike, stand) lift up the back of the bike by the back fender( Not at the end, do it where it has support from the subframe and doesn't flex)
Now rest the bike on the side of you body and pivot it onto the stand that is next to the bike.
Once you get the hang of it you can just ride up to the stand and do it quickly, and doesn't take much effort.

just figure out from all the ways mentioned which works best for you, as for the milk crate,,,,, got to love it, and the fact you put a bit of timber on top is gold, love it when people just make things work.... congrats
