The Seat Grab Indy is generally the first variation to a seat grab that you will learn. This trick always looks good, and everybody has a different style when they do the Indy (which is where you cross your legs like scissors).
When you first start trying to do the Indy, you might feel pretty uncomfortable about doing it, because you might feel that your legs will get caught on the fender or something when you want to come back to land. Well this is almost impossible if you concentrate and take little steps at a time and remain confident in what you're doing.
I'll start this guide from when your in a fully extended Superman Seat Grab ( http://www.fmxaustralia.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3308 ).
1. When you've fully extended your Seat Grab, and have touched your feet together while legs are straight... You need to now begin to move your right leg. Try slide your right boot forward and cross your right boot over the left boot. Get used to doing this movement and getting a feel for your legs starting to get crossed.
2. When you feel confident with crossing your legs, you now want to start twisting your hips around with your legs. This is will make it much easier for you to extend your legs out to Indy.
3. If you feel like crossing your legs and twisting your hips is getting easy, you can now start to extend your legs out. Firstly you want to straighten your right leg out to the left side of the bike. Then you'll want to get used extending your left leg backwards. It's probably easiest when you first start, to bend your left knee and push it backwards. You can then begin to straight your left leg out when you feel it's easy to do.
4. An easier way I've found to extend your legs out when doing an SSG Indy, is when you grab the grabhole and whilst pushing your body back into an indy, is to actually push the bike to the side, as in you're whipping the bike simply by pushing on the grab. You can either push it in the opposite direction of where your looking, or pull the bike in the same direction, either way will give you more extension with the Indy and make it look even better too!
5. To get back on, simply pull your right leg back to the right side of your body while your pulling yourself back onto the bike. The left foot will naturally come back into a straight line if you do it like this. Tilt your hips back to neutral and look straight ahead to where you have to land and your body will follow back on.
For extra extension tips, when you're doing the Indy, look over in the direction your leg is going. This will make the trick look smoothe and you're in control of it all.
Try and also straighten your legs out completely when doing the Indy this generally looks better than when you're legs are bent the whole time. Travis Pastrana does this so well (Watch Videos of him ride, nothing will teach you more than watching him!)
Good Luck
Pic - Here's a picture from side on, note my hips are twisted so my legs go horizontal..If you don't twist your hips, your legs are going to go vertical instead.
