View Full Version : "How-To" - No Foot Nac

can you give me some help on no footed nacs?

After I found out Exactly what a No Footed Nac was (Instead of a Double Nac), the No footed Nac is the next step up from a standard Nac-Nac. One of the oldest tricks in the book, made famous by Jeremy McGrath back in his SuperX "Hay-days". The No Footed Nac is virtually taking the Nac-Nac and taking off both feet and standing beside the bike whilst it's whipped out. This trick was made famous by Deegan in the early days of the X-Games.

To be able to do a No Footed Nac, you need to be very confident with doing a standard Nac-Nac. The Nac-Nac may seem easy to do and you might think a No Footed Nac won't be much harder, but it really is, when the bike is whipped out, this will generally be the first time you have to get the feeling of trying to catch the bike back up, throw your leg back over it, and re-align the bike for landing.

When you want to approach the ramp, you can do either one of two things. Follow the centre line all the way up, this means that you will need to use your body more to whip the bike to the side as you go for the nac. Or you can come in, just off the centreline as explained in the Whip section -http://www.fmxaustralia.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3307

As you leave the ramp, begin straight away with turning your body to the direction you want to whip, taking off the foot, off the side that you are whipping the bike too (Generally the right foot). Push hard with the left foot, pushing the back of the bike out to the right hand side, making the bike "whip out". This does not mean you have to have the bike going into a Flat whip or anything, it just means having the still vertical, just the back off of the line of centre.

When you have whipped the bike out as far as you'd like, and with your foot already coming off and coming around the back of the bike as per normal Nac-Nac, you need to make sure your holding on tight to the bars, and make sure to keep the bars relatively in line with where you want to land, as this will help when coming back for landing later during the trick.

When you have your foot coming around to about in line with the seat, you're pretty much completed a normal Nac-Nac, but now, this is when you will need to take off your foot from the other footpeg (Closest to your body). ***This will feel quite weird if you haven't done a trick similar to this!!! So be careful when doing it and make sure your holding tight and in a position to pull yourself on if you need.

Now when your leg has come around over the bike and passed the bike, you will want to try and "Stand up" in mid air. I've found if you just push your body out and away from the bike with the foot on the side closest to you (Generally left foot), this will be enough to make your body stand straight up, while your forcefully pushing your right leg down to the ground.

By this time you should be in the No Footed Nac position. Now you're ready to get back on the bike, what you need to do is pull hard on the handlebars, and spread your legs apart, trying firstly to get "opposite" leg back over the seat of the bike to help pull the back to the centre line. Once you have gotten your leg over the bike, you can pull on the bars, and get the other foot back on the pegs and line up for a safe landing.

*Note
- When beginning this trick, don't whip the bike out too much.
- Always look forward, but keep an eye on exactly where the bike is to get back on.
- Make sure you have enough air-time to do this trick!!! Trust me, you need as much as you can get, otherwise you might not be able to get back on the bike and Dislocate your shoulder like yours truly :p

Good Luck :)

PIC - Ok, here is a picture of Garret Ahlf from Bakersfield that I found on Fmtx. (Was hard to find a picture of a No Footed Nac because not many people do these tricks. Mostly going for more extension.)
You can see how he has straightened his legs and pointing them down to the ground as if he was standing beside the bike. The bike is whipped out to the side and he is facing forward.

G'day Mate, well the No Foot Nac and a Crack Nac are the exact same trick, different name. The Double Nac is simply extension of the No Foot Nac. Instead of just keeping your feet off the side of the bike in a "Standing" style position, your legs are horizontal and looks more like a superman whipped out to the side of the bike.

Me too, so many little variations with different names, it's pretty pointless...

No footed nac / Crack nac, Double Nac, Catnac, Flatliner, 9'oclcock nac, Whipped Superman (which is body remains in superman and straight with jump but the bike only whips)... And I bet the best in the game can't even tell the difference between some of these tricks without getting right into the very nitty gritty.
