Alritey, sounds like your just getting started with your tricks, so what you need to do is build your confidence up first. The Double Can is a great trick as the pro's have some sort of Can trick they use in comps and still look pretty damn good! (And feel good too)
When trying to do Double Cans, when you leave the ramp what you need to get used too, is holding on tight with your hands, lean forward on the bike a little up the ramp to balance the bike out perfectly during the jump.
First thing you need to be able to do is ride up the jump and as soon as you leave the ramp, grip tight and bring your knees up to your chest. Hopefully depending on the length of your legs, your feet should be just above the seat height. right? If not you may need actually push your body up above the bike aswell, using your arms to lock tight, and crunch your belly up and really bring your knees up high to touch chest and that should get you above the seat height.
Once you feel comfortable with doing this, depending on which side you would like to do the Double Can - either to the left or right side of the bike, go up the ramp, and as you leave raise your feet up to your chest, but this time, kick ONE of your legs to the desired side. So if you want to double can to the left, kick your left foot out to the side whilst your right knee is still in your chest (and still in a straight line).
This gives you the confidence to point your body in the right direction, because once you push one leg one way your body will tend to follow a little bit.
Now once your happy with this you really have to take a leap of faith and when you leave the ramp this time, bring your knees up to your chest and while your pushing your left foot out to the side, twist your body just a fraction (And it's also best if you crunch your belly up too), and you can than take your right leg and just shift it to the left, try and touch your boot on the top of the tank, that will give you an idea where your feet are in relation to the bike. After this each and every time keep pushing it a little bit more, try and touch your right foot on the left hand side of the tank and slide your foot over the tank and feel it on the side then quickly bring it back. Make sure to keep yourself above the bike to give you room to come back to centre for landing!
Once you do this a few times you will feel very confident i'm sure. When you get to this stage, you should leave the ramp and crunch your belly up, bring knees up and try get your knees to follow each other to the left at the same time together. This will make you know exactly where your right leg is and how far it will be past the tank/seat to get back. Put a twist in your body and make sure your holding tight onto the bars to give you the strength to pull back on for landing.
Good luck, There isn't much to the double can really, its just getting your confidence up to put both feet on one side of the bike - 90% of freestyle is Mental - go through the motions in your mind and apply it to the bike and hopefully you won't end up with a banged up knee ;) Good Luck
-In this pic - Notice my feet are touching and knees are touching the whole way through. Once you're across the bike you can then begin to straighten your legs to give you some nice looking extension. Hope to see some pics very soon mate :)
