I was spekin to someone who supposedly knows sh!tloads about bikes, and then he started about CRF 250's and he said there heaps unreliable and u have to change head gaskets and stuff liek every 40 or so hours, and he was just slagin em off to the max.

whats the deal is this all true or what. If someone could help it would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

G'day mate, well I don't know much about 4 Strokes, But when I was talking to everyone before I bought my YZF (I wouldn't have gone any other, but just out of curiosity) I found out from every dealer i talked to, both Yamaha and Honda, that the Honda's have problems with their Titanium Valves and they keep needing to be replaced or something like that. (Of course not with every bike so don't burn me, but this is what alot of shops have said and they're the ones dealing with the problems.)

The best advice I was given if I were to get a CR-F was to use Valve Saver, it's a liquid additive you put in the fuel tank so the Valves don't hit so hard and damage. Call your shop and find out the exact stuff :)

changing head gaskets after 40 hours sound alright to me. 40 hours is a long time. Jeremy McGrath had only put 14 hours on his new KTM when he signed for them before the 2002 Anahiem SX. but the day before the SX he dislocated his hip at practise.
