Yep licence is needed for rec reg. That said, if you're going to go bush anyway (and I notice you're 15) then Rec reg. is better than nothing.....

And i think its now 18 licence for the road, used to be 17 & 9 months or something but i'm told that has changed now...

i dunno if you can get rec reg at 15.. i think ya gotta be 18 and have a car licence or have to have a gardian ( parent ) with you while your riding to get rec reg.. not sure about that but i think thats how it goes..

Its been stated twice above your post that you need a motorcycle license which

Technically rec reg is a bit of a crock of shit. It technically allows you to legally ride on certain roads and in State Forest I think?? The funny thing is, their are 100 rec regd roads in VIC!! Technical if your not riding on them the cops can still do you. This would be highly unlikely but legally they can. Cops are more likely to let you go if you do have a license and/or rec reg. Even just a license is better than nothing and still covers you for TAC but to be fully covered you need your license, rec reg and a roadworthy bike.

but still how do ppl get them rec reg plates on their bikes wen they r not 18??? say if i wanted to go riding in a national park or forest and i am only 16, if i got caught with rec reg they would let me go or i wud just not get as big of a fine.

you can register it in your name i think but its the same as driving a car with no license it will be a cheaper fine but you will still get ass raped

yeah thnx for the info, but yeah i spose ya still wouldnt wanna get caught even if ya had a number plate on the back but no licence. unless u could outride one of the rangers, which if u have that a fair effort. btw anyone done that b4???

i think that you can only get something registered in your name if your at least 17, if your younger it has to be a parent or someone older. if the cops are on trail bikes dont try and outrun them, chances are they will be a much better rider than you. if its a 4wd go for it. they won't catch you, and its not like they're going to try and knock you off your bike. however if you have a license plate on the back of your bike and they get the numbers they will catch up with you back at home.

and yes you must be 18 to get a motorcycle learner permit. i got mine recently so and the first thing it said was you must be 18.

ok i know that some of this has been previosly stated but i'll say it anyway because some people are getting confused.

To ride legally in the bush you need to have 2 things

- A rec reged moto
- a Moto license (can be moto l's)

Now if your under the age of 18 you cannot legally ride in the bush but you can still have a rec reg moto,

you have 2 options

A) buy a moto that already has rec reg on it and get it tranfered into your name. To do this you must have l plate license with vic orads other wise you need to get what they call a client identifier it just a thing so they can identify you on their system and know who you are, Or get you parent or someone who has this to get it transfered into their name, you can still ride the moto

B) Get your moto rec reged with vic roads but to do this you will still need a l plate license or a client identifier or get it reged in someone elses name.

So everyone get that?

So if your over 18 get a rec reged bike and your license to ride in the bush

If you under 18 ride on a rec reged bike at least that way the fine will only be 534 if you get caught instead of 906

you can still get bike rec reged in your name if your under 18

hope this helps people
