Mitchell Hoad from team Suzuki and KTM’S Cheyne Boyd revved up their bikes at Central Coast Stadium recently to test the grounds for the action-packed Supercross Masters heading to Gosford on 25 January 03. The boys performed to a bunch of local media who gathered around to witness the launch of Australia’s richest dirt bike series.
The boys were joined by event organiser Phillip Christensen who is preparing to transform Central Coast Stadium into a dirt bike extravaganza. Over 2500 tonnes of topsoil will be used to recreate the most rugged outdoor terrain with double and triple jumps, stutters, tabletops and near vertical berms.
All the factory teams will be there including Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and the European KTM and Husqvarna. The teams will boast new riders and machines with four-strokes mixing it in the 250cc and 125 ranks.
“This will be the 23rd year of the series, and Central Coast Stadium is without doubt the most appealing outdoor venue we’ve encountered. All spectators will be right on top of the action to be played out under perfect lighting. It is absolutely picturesque... modern-day grandstands flanked by palm trees and broadwater views,” Mr Christensen said.
The Gosford opener features events for 250cc and 125cc, plus junior and C-grade finals. Complementing the main races, an Airtime Expression Session will be waged where some of Australia’s best freestylers will be out to impress with with their airborne antics. As the grand finale, the Supercross Masters will be capped off with a special Australia Day fireworks and laser show.
Tickets now available through Ticketek (outlets, online or phone 02 9266 4800) $35 per adult, $15 per child or $80 for a family pass. A limited number of reserved seats are also on sale for $45-$30.
