Guys and Gals, here's a little question, no real problem or anything, but we all have put up with that annoying sound of when brakes squeak. I've only just noticed it on my new bike, and well it takes away alot of the fun hearing it... So if anyone has any little tips to get rid of the sound, I think just about everyone on here would love to hear it

Lol baby powder on the brakes, I'm sure it'd work a charm... For the squeak perhaps lol.:p Aaah once upon a time when I was but a lad, a "friend" of mine put WD40 on his front brakes to clean them... Needless to say this friend didn't do much stopping that day, hahaha. One day he discovered this contact cleaner stuff which was actually made for such purposes and then all was well. So I suggest trying that. Or Motul even make a brake cleaner if you're really fussy about what you use... But yeah I think it's just cause the pads/disc are dirty.;)

LOL Funnily enough Brad and I were talking about possum piss just before (Possum Piss LOL funny stuff).
Anyway, I shall try teh cleaner, sounds very logical, usually it just comes and goes as most people would know, but a sure fire way to get rid of it sounds fantastic! Thanks mate

take your brake pads out and ruff them up using sand paper or just rub them on the concreat so there not so smooth any more that will work

it may not be the case with majority of the time, but maybe.. your disc isnt tight on the hub. it may not be installed properly and you got a dodgy 1 put on it.
check your spokes are tight also!

Funny you say that Robbo, spokes were (very minor) loose (being that its new bike after a few rides needs to have everything tightened) It's only intermittent, like it doesn't do it all the time, and after i tightened the spokes, it hasn't done it since, so hey, good thinking Robbo!

hehe, no worries man.
wash your bike everytime after you ride it. if you dont have time, atleast just clean the spokes and tighten them. once they cease up from mud etc.. they wont come undone, so they will be stuck. then you will need new spokes if you dont want to risk braking your hub or rim.
so IF they cease years down the road (which they shouldnt because you WILL be cleaning them every ride), then atleast they will be tight.
but you shouldnt have any problems really, just look after your spokes.
PS.. in the factory, they dont put a lot of grease in the head set bearings. If you have a spare 30mins, might wanna clean them in some petrol, blow dry them with an air gun, and re-grease with a water proof grease like Belray. hey, its better then spending $50 on bearings down the road if they fark up.

as someone said eariler, it seems to me that the heat shields, act as a sort of disc brake warnign system and squeel when ya pads are jsut about out, it happend on the back of my cr250 and they were pretty worn down, check to see if thats rubbing and check ya brake pads. its the stainless thing that clips around the back of ya brake pad.

ok, my brakes dont squeal or squeak. when i stomp on the back brakes the make a huge clunky kinda noise like if u had no meat left on the pads but they r brand new so heaps of meat. im not sure whats goin on but it aint sounding healthy at all.

Is that when you're riding along and hit the back brake? If so then the noise isn't the brakes I'd say, it's probably the chain gathering up and hitting the swingarm and stuff, happens all the time as far as I know.

yeah. im guessing its the chain thumping. not nessacarly hitting the swing arm, but maybe stopping because it cant go anymore because of the chain tension, so its just thumping.

its not the chain because it happens eveb when i just putting along and grab the brakes. it is the brakes im sure of it.
