hit my first ramp today

I got to hit my first ramp ever today it was sick. i hit a small ramp set up at a local riding spot set at about 30 feet and that was ok but some one took that home or somthing later in the day and all that was left was like a 6 foot super kicker set at about 35 feet. I started hitting it and landing on the flat deck on the landing and then i started to land in the sweet spot of the landing, but i kept doing dead sailors, for some reason i know i should level out adn i know how to do it but i freeze up when the front end is way to high so i ended up whipin out, any one got some advice?

i dont have any pics seeing forgot to bring a camera, but if i go next weekend i will get some pics

figured i would add there was some guy on a fifty goin for 360s and it was the funniest thing i have ever seen

well ive never hit a ramp, so no advise from me, bu ti wanna say congrats man on hittin ur first ramp :):) good work,

maybe try standing over the bars more going up the ramp. First time i hit a ramp i had the same troubles. Just stand up and have like your head above the bars and keep a constant speed up the ramp.

dont take offence, but when you freeze like that when it goes nose high, its just from inexpereince.

you really gotta be instinctive on hitting the clutch & brake when that happens or youre gonna get hurt. Usually theres not even time to thikn about hitting the brake, you gotta react straight away, and it only comees with bike skill/expereince on a heap of different jumps

yea, im not that expeireced but the only reason i felt real safe was that the landing was like a sand dune so when i whiped it was soft, i will the brakes and leaninf forward next time i go

yeh mate as CD_69 was sayin...it cause ya haven't hit any ramps before, just hit different ramps, and see if ya can find a few natural terrain hits too, and ya will figure it out mate, just practice and practice, and ya will will get it soon enough...

ok i will prolly be goin back on friday, and i have just one last question whats the best way to preload right, i can do it good but i think that might be whats causing me to go so front end high

i went today and was doin great and was gettin no footed cans down ok but i ended up screwing up my knee. click here (http://www.fmxaustralia.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3029) to read what i did.

Yeah what ever you do do not lean over the bars i did that on my 1st ramp and i ate **** so bad. like what crustydemend 69 said get into the habbit of pulling in the clutch and knocking your back brack (only use the front in emergency) but remember to reve b4 you hit the ground it helps the tires get back in to there normal spinning thing so you do not land and go fowards

its how tall was the ramp, this is a really old thread and since i have wrote the ramp has been destroyed over 2 months ago. some ****in moron was doin doughnuts on the sand dune landing thing and lost control and ran it down or somthing

opps almost forgot to say is was about 6 feet talll with a real sharp lip that would put ya about another 20 feet or maybe 25 off the top of the lip if ya hit it right

Well I drove by the sand pit that the ramp was at last week and guess what I saw? Some good soul put a new ramp out there! I have one more week left before I'm "allowed" to ride again and I'm gonna hit the new ramp, hopefully I can get some pics for once.
