Acerbis used to make plastics called ghost plastics in pretty much every colour, not sure if they still do, the problem with them was that if ya dropped the bike they would get huge white stress marks through them, BUT! if your a choice rider and can keep ya bike on 2 wheels you will be fine! :-)

hmmm chrome plastics are mad! but they r a bit expensive bcoz its not actually paint its like liquid metal, or something along those lines... so do clear plastics really exist ??? coz i still want them....

what about perspex ??
Mungoman45
13th April 2004, 07:16 PM
Even if you could get someone to mold you up a set made of perspex, they'd be useless, as perspex doesn't flex at all, soon as ya lean it on something it'd snap clean apart.

yer, thats true mungoman....

Wouldn't that depend how thick ya make it and stuff? Goggle lenses are perspex and they flex quite well. And we got some lil perspex windows on me lil bro's cubbyhouse and they're pretty flexible too so maybe if ya don't make em too thick it'd be ok... Would look hell weird though, seeing the dirt on your front guard and stuff...

Ya'd need em to be thick enough to be rigid, if ya make em thin enough to be able to flex, they wont just flex when ya crash or bang em, they'll flex and wobble all over the joint and look shithouse not to mention not doin their job real well, of pretecting stuff. I think if anyone could make completely see through plastics, they'd be just "showroom" stuff like those chrome metalic plastics, no one would buy those for everyday riding, it's just pointless. Just my opinion on the whole dealio.

it needs to be special stuff. being sticky doesnt help. you need the special stuff they use on car bumbers.
we have perspix thats about 5mm thick, and you can bend it 180º without putting stress marks in it or snapping. its quite flexible.

KTM tanks aren't 100% see through, but you can see how much petrol is in your tank.

i heard that if u get those white crease marks in ur plastics that u heat em up a bit wif a hot air gun or a hairdryer and they disappear...... could be wrong though and if u had chrome paint on it may wreck that up pretty badly
