you are just not mentally commiting to it, you cant go into it thinking fu#k im going to try and flip, you need to go into it thinking you have done a million of them before.
pulling/body movement at the correct time is also a BIG part in flipping.

If you tend to freeze up in panic situations that can prove useful, I think... Cause as long as you pull properly off the ramp, you can feel it start going and just freeze until you know where you are. Then once the first one's done you can just keep dialing it in until you're comfy no matter where you are in the process.
If you tend to bail out instead of the freeze, then you're just gonna have to control your mind more strongly and know that you can stay with it. In foam you're probably more likely to get hurt by bailing and getting bike slapped than by staying with it and landing upside down so once you fully believe that, it's just about putting it into practice and getting your lean back on.

Get some practice on a bmx Chris... Ive been doing that a bit lately and even on that took me a few goes to get the confidence to not let go... The only thing I'm getting blind from now is spinning so fast.
Good luck mate... Lets hope you can be teaching me when i come back down.

i found when learning to flip bmx is that if you look back while you are on the up ramp it tends to make you want to bail.
but if you lean back on the bike and pull on the bars and as soon as you feel the bike leave the up ramp the arse end will swing around causing the bars to hit you in the hips........thats the indication to start looking back and pulling harder if you need to so what ya do after the bars hit you just look back and swing your upper body around so you can spot the down ramp or the foam in your case then the bike will continue to follow your body until it is up right.really is has nothing to do with the bike its your body and your strength and mental strength. which ever way your body goes the bike shall follow.
i hope that helped.
