thats what i thought at 1st, but aparently they all have airbag suspension, which is like a hydrolic setup thing, i dont know much about em, but you can raise the chassis up n stuff, so ur not due for a new frame n stuff if ya go over a speed bump...All i know is its ex*****ive, ya can pay around $7000 to get it done..so not worth it. i dont rekn

lol you'd have to have one hell of a low chucky bodykit on it to cover half the mags, at their lowest, it'd cover maybe a few inches of the top. But they only sit that low when they're not being drivin anyways, for Show purposes only, hence the reason and need for airbag suspension. ;) I'm sure it all makes sence in the big sceme of things if ya sit back and think about it, but once again, personal taste rears it's head.
Mini Trucks arn't some people's cup of tea, which is fine, but that also means, they'll never understand why the owners do any of the mods they do, like "why woulda ya remove the door handles?".... it's just a look the owners going for, which is Stylish yet functional, as you can still open the doors without doorhandles :cool: same with airbag suspension, you can still drive it, yet have it sit that low when ya want it to ;).

ive seen a guy drivin round here and he did the custom thing with his number plate on the angle in the back of the tray, and he couldnt use it cos it wasnt legal to have it like that so he had to put it down the bottom. so hes got a big hole in the back of his ute where it was sposed to go.

airbag suspention: in a coil spring car the chassis goes up in a "C" section allowing the spring too sit under the chassis.. when u remove the Coil springs and replace it with an airbag setup u can basicly put it straight in.. without any mods too the frame.. But with leaf suspention they cut out a section of the framp and re-weld in a "C" section too allow for the bags too move right up.. they run off a small silent compressor in the back and usually need a few extra indipendant batteries too help run it..

when a Mini truck or van is on the ground they look sick.. :D

ahhh,a minitruck thread!first of all i'll set you guys straight with a few things-prices of airbag kits vary depending on quality,where you buy them from,what sort of kit your buying,how quick the valves are etc.,some pretty major modifications are needed to be made to fit bags to a truck,its not just a case of removing a spring and bolting in a bag!the idea is simple,an air compressor(electric or engine driven)fills an air tank in the tray and then you can inflate and deflate using switches in the cabin. the idea of removing the handles,trim,locks,stickers,badges,imperfections etc. is to change the appearance and give the ride a much cleaner/smoother look,door poppers are put in in the window sill to open the doors(in aus. the law says you have to have a mechanical means of opening the door).prices of installation including the kits also varies from 7-12k,less depending on what and who you know,cheaper if you do it yourself.

there are remote kits like the ones you speak of that uses solenoids and when you hit a button(on a key chain) the doors pop open,but they are illegal in oz as the 'law' says you have to have a mechanical means of opening the door. so what they do is get inside the door and put an extension of rod coming out the window sill of your door(on the outside) about 1cm or so and when you push it,it operates the latch mechanism just like a handle would and voila!you lock the doors using remote central locking.
theres also a new thing they've brought out where if you tap a certain part of a certain panel(of your choosing when they install it) the doors will pop open.
oh yeah theres also another setup i've seen used where they run a cable in the interior part of the door,through the side panel to your side mirrors and you pull the mirror backwards(you know how some car side mirrors fold in so if you side swipe something it doesnt break off,well the opposite direction to that) and the door pops open.

How can those get away with bein legal, when they dont have any rear lights what-so-ever?...I WOULD throw the suggestion out there of them being "show cars" only, but to throw that amount of money into something that's not legally aloud on the road would just be rediculous.

i have a fealing on the yellow one that those bars are the lights, just have little sections, member the regulations are different in america so they might be able to get away with the little light, aand with the rright hand side mirror missing, well they dont need to have a mirror there cuz in america they have left hand drive, same here in aus we dont need a mirror on the left hand side...

on my ute i only have a mirror on the right hand side....i dont think u even need both side mirrors....but u definately need the rearvision mirrior.and most of the mini trucks shave there door handles, and there wind screen wipers, and theretailgate handle.they just look neater without them aswell i reckon

Yeah, ya could be right, America may be more leaniant. Mungoman422 had a Mungo symbol cut out and stuck on his rear centre break light on his old done up station wagon, so that when ya put your foot on the break it shone a big "M" logo instead of a square. He got done for that, as it was classified as a defect....wasn't the only thing he got done for that day HAHA, the sheet on that car was as long as ya arm, but anywho, point is, Australia's tight when it comes to legal issues involving cars.

Theres more to a show car than simply throwing a heap of money at it. It could be a promo car for a panel and paint shop showing how they can customise your car etc etc..(advertising) They can be sponsored by a rims shop or motor building shop or suspension shop or stereo shop. And if it's a good enough show car it will be paid to be in a show to draw crowds and it could win trophys and get prize money. Or be featured in a magazine and be paid as well as getting readers for the mag. So to throw that amount of money into something not legally allowed on the road, is in some cases a good business decision and not rediculous at all. (And some cars do have permits)Not to mention it gives the owner a chance to show off his personality and creativity as well as his wallet size!

i think both of those rides have lights,the yellow one definately does and the grey two tone one looks like its lights are in the swirls of the graphic on the roll pan.they just build them into the roll pan put perspex or fibreglass over the lights,smooth it,then spray graphics or a pattern over the fibreglass and leave sections of the fibreglass clear so you only notice the lights when braking.america is much more lenient with rules than oz so they can get around stuff alot easier.

this is my brothers ute.. not much done to it.. just has twin 2 inch exausts and a chev grill, chev badge on bak, one on each side of the door and it has lil chev badges in the wheel caps... it is de-badged with holden badges... goes fast tho

Heres my minitruck. Its a 1990 Holden Rodeo dual cab. Ive lowered it about 6" in the rear and droped the front to match. Resprayed the whole interior, put speakers in all the doors myself, different front seats fitted. Ive started shaving it, shaved the handles, window washers, mirrors, fuel door and a bit of the tub. I got 18s for it, only have 2 on atm, but the others will be on when i get money for tyres (back 18s are on in some pics just for pictures sake). Enough words, here are the pics.

yeah mate its called an urban rider its got a 9hp motor and 300 metres of rope it not for skiing tho its just for wakeboarding and wakeskating but mainly wakeskating....it isnt my idea they have been around for awhile now i bought this about two weeks ago so much fun just pull up anywhere there is water and away you go for the people in sydney you might no this spot we went to norwest business centre the other day it was sick had a massive crowd watchin good times

its called an urban rider winch its got a 9hp motor with a chain to a sprocket with a spool of 300metres of rope so you pull up somewhere were its flooded or a man made water feature and you just walk the handle out and when the person is ready start it up and pull them in on a wakeskate or wakeboard it goes up to about 30mph but we ride at about 21mph
