Howz it my name is Dan cant ride for a while cause of my f***ed up leg just wondering how many NZ FMXers are on this site ????

Nooo i'm not from NZ but thought i'd just write a little hello and fantastic job on the leg!!! if chicks dig scars... man u'll be pimpin' like it's noones business!!! How'd u score such a break?? Anyway hope its getting better everyday so u can get back on the bike that much quicker :)

Cheers Man, Lets just say SSG's and cross winds dont match, Ended up smashing my lower knee in 15 places, Been like this for 8 weeks now and just got those pins out yesterday gona be a slow recovery so will have to sell bike, Doc reckons i wont be able to ride again but after seeing all pastrana's injuries i think i will.

Um, as for the injuries, I'd urge ya to go have a quick looksee around the "general fmx chat" forums, as i think there are 2 threads there allready on injuries, and let me just say, ya wont be dissapointed, lol, there's some doozy's in there, and pics to match :D

Hey Dan,

Feel for ya mate, I know cuz I've been there. Broke Leg twice, once with a metal rod in it even. One leg, eight scars, four operations, 16months of crutches!

But hey, bones heal and you'll be back out there in no time mate.
And yes I am a NZ freestyler, well untill Monday and I arrive in ozzy to check out the scene over there.

Yeah i would love to be back out there soon as, but its not looking good, ive had 9 ops so far with internal pins and screws going through my lower knee and may need another couple of ops by the end of the year, but i am making some progress, am able to get around on crutches now and i am starting to get some bend back in my knee joint, just gota wait and see what happens i spose, best of luck to N.F & D.F on a speedy recovery.

The 3 spikes and the rods were a brace to hold my leg sorta straight and to not let it move so my knee joint could heal, That brace has been off for a while now. I wasnt realy aloud to walk around with it cause i had to keep the leg elevated. But its all good now sorta, Just learnig to try and walk again and my knee dosnt move much, Think i got 1 more op which is nxt month to get 1 internal pin out cause its protruding out past the bone and looks like it wants to come through the skin ..... :p

Yep my knee is stiff as shit lol, when it first happend i felt the crunch of it (who wouldn't) it hurt like **** but i didnt pass out but i wish i did cause i was in shit loads of pain, i thought i had just popped my knee out and i was telling people around me to pop it back in but when they pulled my knee pads off there were bones sticking out just not quite pierceing the skin, they stuck me on a stretcher (i think) then on a 4 wheeler took me to the first aid tent and then started to give me some wicked drugs lol :p

Meanwhile some other poor bastard was just hitting the ramp.... given the crash signal and endowed over the front of the ramp into the downie. And the worst thing was, Dodgy was down at the end and was safe to jump!!! The lesson : low speed front flips dont work! Oh and yeah....Gas is gooood!

Na i didnt crash, The way injury was i should of had a big crash lol but i didnt, Just praticing a new trick and got caught by a cross wind my leg missed the foot peg and i planted it into the down ramp which bounced me back on the bike and i rode out in shit loads of pain.

Hey scott, Me and clint got a ramp each, clint (hillbilly) has got a huge ramp, its about 2.6m tall, 2.4m wide and im not to sure how long it is and its a tandum trailer all in one, So u can fit all ur gear and shit inside the ramp, close the doors and lock em, hook the ramp/trailer on ur vechicle and away u go !! (it was used at NZ X-Air), I just got a std ramp 2.6m tall, 1.2m wide, and 7m long which i dont use any more due to my injury so its for sale now, What ramps u using at the mo ?? or r u just going off dirt kickers ??

hey wel we have an aussie comp but thats al ova nz ppl using for demos and such and we got standard ramps but im building myself an aussie comp we have got 5 ramps and 2 big downies and are based jsut out of christchurch

hey guys,

if your looking for a nasty kicker in nz i have one sitting in my shed on a neat little trailer ready to roll. wana buy it $2000 -permantly mounted on the rear of a trailer, fit two bikes on as well, made to ozzy(modified) specs perfect curve and very kicky but nice. Luke Cole's ridden it and says its one of the best up ramps he's ever ridden.

Fact: I own the biggest portable ramp in NZ, if not the world. Its aussie comp spec and was used 90% of the time at x-air. So sorry lady, but no. Isn't it funny how so called "christians" actually act more like Judas than Jesus..selfish, backstabbing and greedy!
Spook, she has stolen gigs and jumped for free which is the two biggest no no's in the game. We have had a "gentlemans agreement" with the other top riders in NZ to not do this. This came about because of HER actions. It undermines the ability to charge a fair rate for the top guys who are trying to make a living out of the sport. Who would pay top dollar for riders when there are people out there riding for bugger all or free.

when has she ridden for free? (other then way back in the beginning, cause truth be told we all did a show for nothing at one point)
when has she stolen shows off other people?

as far as her being greedy, sorry but that pissed me off a bit. she is one of the most selfless people you could ever hope to meet.
her complete portable set up, she has made no money on, nothing! the small amount of money that people have given her to date has barly cover costs of getting it to the venue.
your a goon mate, you don't have the biggest portable set up in the world! i guess you are just talking about a up ramp? if so i'm sure it's not as long as seths ramp? and if your built it any higher then a super kicker your a idiot! and i can't see it being any wider then the ones we used over here for x-games.
i know all about whats exceptable to do and not do in this sport. and mary has done nothing bu the right thing. she has built one of the best portable set ups i have jumped on, and the only shows she done for free were christian shows that were part of IWT. and that didn't steel shows for anyone, unless your riders wanted to do it for nothing. and i know cause i was the one jumping!
check your sources for this information mate before you talk anymore.
from what i have seen, some of you NZ boys are just a little threatened by her as she is a better all round rider a could beat you around a track any day of the week.

Ok dude, read what I said. I have the biggest portable ramp in NZ. If seths is portable, well I stand corrected. And I did say "if not" meaning possibly. Never said anything about a complete set up. I was referring to marys comment about ramps that I hit. We were the first to have the aussie comp spec ramps in NZ. So the quality of our ramps are the same as the x-games ones. If I built a ramp higher than the comp spec ramp it would not be a comp spec ramp and yes I agree, it would be stupid to do this.
You have said that she barely covers her costs. This is what I was refering to. There needs to be decent money paid to riders. I mean you risk your life to do this shit, you might as well get paid well for it. Check the start of this thread and see the devastation that riding can do. Dan will never jump again. The best he can hope for is a knee replacment in 8 years time.
As for stolen shows, we were told of one that was taken off Palmy and one that I definatly know was taken off us just after we advertised it. I will stand corrected as I dont know the facts on the Palmy gig.
And no, we have never jumped for free and we never will. Maybe that is why we lost the gig??
As for the greedy comment, yeah sorry. Shouldn't have put that.
But I used to thrash her round the track on my old XR so I dont buy that. I never questioned her riding ability just the ethics. At the end of the day, the top riders deserve top pay. And if she wishes to put herself into that catagory well fine but start charging for it.

As for shows I have stolen off you I would like to know what you are referring to on this...............if its parachute festival 04 then u tried to steel that off me. I had that booked ONE WHOLE YEAR in advance then they ring me and say some people by the name of youselves wanted to do the show. By the way ask the riders Tim & Dan on that one if we got paid...............sure did but you know what the money I made out of it I put it all back into the sport and something I believe in - IWT, the tour we done throughout NZ over the summer which spook (Luke Cole) rode in.

As for steeling shows off Palmy FMX thats bullshit, list the shows I have done that I could have stolen off them.........???? The only FMX shows I have done in the past 2 years have been ones that I actaully helped in the organisation of the whole event (except for Parachute 04 BUT I have worked for them in previous years events)

And as for my riding mate, at least I can hit 80 feet portable to portable. Plus I dont see you in Australia winning races in their national championship.

And guess what, Mark from x-air actually asked to use MY ramps but I had to turn them down as went to Tim Watson's wedding instead(was on the same day), so in reality your ramp was a 2nd choice for them.

.........and as for injuries I have a rod and 4 screws in my leg which I rebroke with the rod in(one leg is shorter than the other from that injury). I've broken both arms, have been racing with cracked ribs and pulled hamstrig for the last 4weeks! I know the dangers so don't give me that.

If you have any more issues with me please bring them out in the open as I'm over all the shit I've been given over the past years from the NZ FMX scene.

I've been in Australia now for the last 4months, riders like the Cole bro's, Robbie Maddison, Schuie, Chuck Norris, they actually respect me for what I do! Robbie's been on the side of the track cheering me on at the MX nationals, Luke Cole's given me a house to live in, Danny Ham takes me riding at the local MX tracks, Chuck and I take the piss outa each other all day but its just for fun.

You may be jealous because I went ahead and built a massive portable down ramp -all out of my own money because I wanted to see the sport grow. I've been in meetings with MNZ to get them behind the sport, Nick Reader and I have looked into encourparating a national FMX championship series with the NZ SX nationals but we can only do this if MNZ are involved. I have close contacts at the Waikato Rugby stadium and Bay Park Speedway which I am both pushing to get behind the sport and run events and both are very keen.

But when I think about it all I'd be doing is a favour for you guys and really is it worth it just because I love the sport!

I could say more and try persuade you I'm not really the person everyone(in the NZ FMX scene) has made me out to be but in the end you have to make up your own mind..........from now on when I organise shows in NZ I will be using Australia PRO riders!
