they are HELL expensive mate. but i want one too haha. not sure about the measurements depends on what kinda jumps ur doing if u wanna go longer gap then itd hav to be bigger just to be safe. one the size of schuies or the one off frmx RIDE with the crusty practice session would be unreal.

Minimal cost for a pit to jump big bikes into are about $20,000. I think Maddo's is near the $60,000 mark.

its harder do ing triks from a fome pit to dirt if your pit is in ground because if your pit isvin ground yor in the air longer and dirt you wont have the same time so it will just be hard to do

unless you have a kicker onto a hell mad step down..........actualy has anyone ever seen that before.....or would you fall to fast?

i reckon like a massive 3 metre high however long inflatable airbed type thing. Of course in a larger scale, maybe using the same materials and pump as a jumping castle? could work, especially for bmx.

yeh i had the same idea, i reakon it would pop

They don't pop, same principle as a jumping castle or portable downy airbag. You have the pump running constantly, and a vent hole somewhere in the bag so that it isn't inflated like a balloon so much as constantly going down and being pumped up at the same time. That way, when something hits it, the excess air has somewhere to go, the vent hole. That stops the bag from popping, and also from bouncing you off. The pump keeps it from deflating entirely.
But basically it'd be more expensive than a foam pit to setup and run anyway, and not as safe as a properly fluffed pit. Cause if you bail, you don't sink in and there's nothing that can get between you and the bike like there is in foam.

iam getting old off cuts for free and using some old stuff from the council pick up... hopefully i got enof lol....
i found out about the tires thing as nick franklin the freestyler made one with tyres at the bottom
bear_beckett
29th March 2007, 01:59 AM
u need about 3 layers of tires at the bottom , and ur gona need shit loads of foam.. like a couple of moving trucks full at least..
and u'll be surprised how many tyres u'll actauly need.. but its also a good idea to put chiken wire down over the tires befor u put ur foam on cos it will get pushed down into the tyres and u'll loose a bit of foam..

good idea i was thinking about putting something like a tarp i never really thought about chiken wire thanks

just throwing it up there, but how about cardboard boxes.... i know the stunt guys use em when doing falls off roofs and stuff, just like get tons of em and stack em up in front of your ramp, you assemble em all, and they crumble, youd need lots of thin ones, so they dont hurt to bad, and so when they collapse theres sill a descent amount of stuff there. it would b tons cheaper, but only good for a few hits, tell me if you reckon it would work

i know someone with a pit around those dimensions and he paid $1.75 a kilo for the foam. he has over 10 tonne in it and its not full, thats $17500 for foam alone. then you need something to cover it and a crane. i think $20000 to $30000 is what you should be expecting to pay.

well we havnt paid a cent for our foam accept for petrol costs...
but i will say this! u need so much foam for full sized pits that u could fill a semi-trailer with all the foam packed in tight.
and we had a mate who gave us foam.
hey jayden that pit looks like it should be neat when its done, what are u going to use as a walkway? cos containers work a treat.

Only 1 semi trailer? My mate bought his foam brand new and was neatly stacked. 2 semi's later and he is getting a third cause he is moving his foam pit and making it bigger.
