Hi,
I have never really ridden big bikes, just used to ride my lil thumpstar around a bit. Now i'm wanting to get a bigger bike. Dont feel comfy on a 250f and i reckon an 85 is too small and the kx125 well i kinda wanna get a four stroke.
What do you guys reckon would be the best way to go, whats the crf150 like?
Any info would be great.
Cheers

150f is basically an 85 frame, well the 150r is. Im only 160cm or something and a 250f fits me. ( i dont have one ive ridden one (i got an 85 witch im getting rid of soon) you would get used to it. or maybe the crf230..

Hello, i got a TTR230 and it is the perfect height for me i am 170cm and 24yrs old (hadnt ridden many big bikes only a yz250f and it was a bit big for me) the 230 is smaller but still a good size, and mine goes great...... :headbang9

depends on what you want to do.
If its mx/fmx then your only real options are a 125 or a 250f. You can lower a 250f a fair bit (the lowest i've seen is a CRF250 lowered 6 inches!)
If your into trails then the 230s but I wouldnt reccomend a 230 for mx/fmx

I'm about to buy a yz 125 but i've also got a ttr 90 and a klx250 and i ride that with no probs other than i'm a bit short, but i've ridden wr250s without an issue, it depends on your riding experiance :)

yeah i've never ridden one but they'll get round a track don't know how competitive it would be though

Most girls that race are on 250fs, usually there is 1 or 2 (generally 16 year old straight from juniors) race on a 125, but all mostly on 250fs.
Theres nothing to say you cant ride a 230 on the track, girls have tried to race them in the past but within 2 months they always end up getting a 250f so cost wise its cheaper just to bite the bullet and get a 250f. The 230s lack power but most importantly they lack the suspension for mx riding/racing.
If your a little bit scared about the power of an mx 250f, look at the enduro versions ie crf250x or wr 250f, they have a smoother more tame power delivery and softer suspension plus electric start, a few girls go down that path.

An 85 is a junior bike, if you were wanting to race, you will be pretty disadvantaged (also most womens races are 125/250f class so you may not even be allowed to ride it). If you want a bit of a smaller bike look at the new Honda 150. A kid at my local track has one and these things are gonna leave the 85s way behind in that class and will lessen the gap to the full size bikes a little.
It really depends on what you want to do with it. I guess I am looking at more of a racing angle but at the very least Id be looking at a 125.

i wouldnt get a two stroke if your just starting out mate...see if you can find one of those 150's or even a 250f would be alright (might be a bit big for you)

I rode a ttr250 on the weekend. It was such an easy bike to ride, although a little heavy.
I am definitely going a big bike. :)

I rode a rm125 03 model the other day just around our property, first time on a two stroke and only stalled a couple of times, dont think i'd get a 80 for a first bike

Lauren I totally agree with you.
I am actually buying the ttr that I rode, so what everyone has been saying about 250fs is true... they rock.
Only prob now is, I'll have trick new gear and a shitty old bike... hahaha ah well.
Lauren good luck with your search. I say go with what you have most fun on.

dupends if u wanna race or just ride around. 150 is just a 85 frame. so probably too small, and porbably wont be able to race it either (i dunno the rules.) probably a 250 is the way to go. probably a pain to start if u drop it but should get used to it and find a way to get round that. (dont drop it lol)

150R is a better choice than 230 I say. They are lighter, more powerful and have higher quality components.
You could always get a 250F lowered or seat cut down, I am not much taller than you and I still ride my 450 ok... I think?

i think personally out of the two I would get the we the people because it has better stock parts on it it comes with "salt" spec with is better than what ever kink have. also look at some fit bikes the new models are so nice and also suprisingly the 2011 mongooses are looking better this year .
