ok well my throttle cable on my crf50 busted the other day and i bought a replacement for it but i have no idea on how to install it. it may sound like a dumb question but the elbow joint connected to the carby cap seems to have been crimped onto the existing wire and i cannot remove these pieces to put onto the new 1. was i supposed to get other parts with this throttle cable or can i simply not see the light at the end of the tunnel.

If its anything like a big bike.. you will have to take the cap off your throttle control.. unclip the cable.. then you have to take off the carby head (which is usally gotta at by taking off the tank and seat.) Then take it out of there.. and making sure you put all the peices of the carby back in right with the new cable in!

Good luck!

i'm not quite sure i understood what you meant there unless we are travelling down different roads. i have removed the cable from the bike and the cap on the old cable is what the needle & seat sits underneath with the spring just in the top of the carby nd the cap is what i need to take off but that also has an elbow joint atop of it. i tried to upload a picture then but it didnt seem to work.

Ok guys I will try to help hoping I understand your q.The stock honda CRF cable is crimped into the cap. You can either mess around for hours trying to remove the old cable from the cap or you can get another carb cap that the new cable will slot into.Where did the rplacement cable come from? To the other guys question if you relace the throttle with a good quality billet one and a better than chinese cable you will have a set up that will last longer than most chinese bikes will. funny but true!
Hope this helped

yeh, for my problem i went down to the bike shop and they gave me a new cap with a wider opening that the aftermarket cable just slotted into. pretty easy solution in the end but with my lack of logical thinking, turned out to be complicated and annoying problem. but its all good and well now...

This happens from the friction between the cable and the tube it goes through, try putting a some oil down that tube to reduce the friction.
