Avalon SX set to explode this Saturday night!
Round 2 of the FOX Supercross Open is set to explode this Saturday night at Avalon Raceway as the action heats up with Monster Trucks, Fast 50's, Freestyle and of course the heart stopping racing action.
Pro Open rider Cameron Taylor will be ready to mix it up again with his long time rival and the reigning champion- Troy Dorron. Unable to attend round 1 at Nyora, Cameron will be using Avalon SX as his last chance to prepare for the start of the National's. Taylor took the final round of the 2003 series in Bendigo over Dorron but with very little between them, both are fired up to establish dominance over one another in 2004.
Troy Dorron- "The Avalon SX is my home event and I always get a strong supporter base turning out to cheer me on. I really enjoyed the track there last year and judging by the map I've seen it's going to be another great circuit. Cameron will be tough to beat but I'm confidant I've got him covered."
Joining Dorron and Taylor in the Pro Open class is Lee Ellis who is coming on strong this year with an awesome ride to finish 3rd at round 1 at Nyora.
Brad Hibberd from NSW made the trip down for round 1 and surprised all with his silky smooth skills on his Yamaha. Running the same number as World SX Champion Chad Reed (22), Brad has obviously studied Reed's style and is hoping to follow in his footsteps.
The Pro Lites class has been providing the most intense racing with as many as 8 different riders all with a chance to take the win. It's anyone's guess who will stand atop the podium at nights end.
2003 Supercross Open Pro Lites Champion Cameron Sinclair started his 2004 title defense the hard way with 3 crashes in 3 races but on his new Powerhouse Motorcycles Airtime KX250F he is blazingly fast and will only improve as the year continues.
John Flint was a big surprise at Nyora with a strong 2nd overall in his return to supercross. John was away from the racing circuit for several years as he chased freestyle fame but with a new K&J Thomas Honda CRF250 under him, John is set to take bring about a return to his earlier racing success.
Team Kawasaki rider Adam Robinson has taken a little while to acclimatize to supercross racing but his steady improvement with his supercross skills will have him fighting it out for the win very very soon. Look for him at he pointy end of the field at Avalon.
Also hitting the track will be the Fast 50's. These so called kids bikes are the biggest thing in motocross now around the world with full size riders thrashing the tiny bikes around and performing all manner of insane tricks on them. Blake "Bilko" Williams is one such rider who will amaze all with his backflip's on the tiny bike.
All the action will not be confined to just two wheels alone with the MONSTER TRUCKS madness showing what they are made of on the outdoor venue. These big bad brutes will be tearing it up and launching themselves skywards. Crazy doesn't even begin to describe seeing these guys in action.
If all that isn't enough to get you going, the freaks of freestyle are set to pound your pupils with their midair madness, see the smoke fly in the burn out competition, save a packet at the huge MX accessories sale, meet the stars in the pre race pit walk session and it's all fully catered for with alcohol sales on site.
