Dirt Bikers flooded the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Heath Section with rebuttals last week following an article by a Pittsburgh physiatrist (rehabilitation specialist) called "Children and motorized bikes are a dangerous combination."

The article called for regulation of dirt biking and more research on injuries, which may be more than you can say for the article itself. It was rather poorly researched and failed to compare dirt biking with other activities young people enjoy, such as inline skating or football.

The Post Gazette acknowledged the responses and yesterday wrote:

"Dr Barbara Swan's Health Forum article on the risks of dirt bike riding to youngsters brought a flood of responses, many of them from enthusiasts - children and adults - of the activity..."

The Post Gazette ran 1/2 page on the responses, along with an Associated Press photo of Mad Mike Jones doing a stunt.
