FREESTYLE MOTOCROSS LEGEND CAREY HART TO ATTEND FOSTERS FORMULA ONE GRAND PRIX IN MELBOURNE 2006.
Melbourne Australia, March 21st 2006
Melbourne based Action Sports company, Host Group announces that they have negotiated with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation to have Carey Hart participate in the BMW Celebrity Challenge at the Fosters Australian Grand Prix, Albert Park Melbourne Australia from March 30 – April 2.
Carey Hart is one of the most respected and successful athletes in the Action Sports Industry. A professional Freestyle Motocross rider and an internationally recognised athlete at the forefront of Action Sports, Hart’s most infamous standing to date took place in 2000 when he etched his names in the record books, being the first rider to complete a back flip on a 250cc motorcycle at the Gravity Games, Rhode Island. Not only did it launch Hart to an entirely new level, but it also put Freestyle Motocross on the map in a big way globally. Furthermore, Hart’s growing popularity has seen him secure his own signature trading cards/action figures/helmets, a spot on the USA mainstream TV hit show Surreal Life 5, but most noticeably Carey for the last two years has been running his own reality TV Show ‘Inked”.
Always a crowd favourite at the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the BMW Celebrity Challenge will see Hart, who recently married Pop Star “Pink”, strapped into a BMW Series 1 car, as one of 28 A-list Celebrities lining the grid at Albert Park. Other ‘famous faces’ taking to the track include, Tara Moss (Author, actress and model), Ryan Phelan (Channel 10 personality), Tiffany Cherry (Fox footy presenter and journalist), Alastair Lynch (Former AFL star) and all four of The Wiggles.
Living up to the standard of past stars of the BMW Celebrity challenge, won’t be any easy task, with the likes of Kostya Tszyu, Eddie McGuire, Petria Thomas, John Paul Young, James Tomkins, Paul Mercurio, Red Symons, Livinia Nixon and Jimeoin all having sat behind the wheel. Hart however has no doubt that he is up for the challenge. After sustaining numerous injuries whilst performing dangerous, life-risking tricks on his motorcycle, he is confident of transferring his talents to four wheels and claiming the chequered flag.
Carey Quote
‘At the end of the day racing around a bitumen track in a fully enclosed vehicle is a lot safer than dirtbiking, so I am planning on hanging it right out and putting myself on the podium at whatever cost. There is going to be some tough competion for sure, but lets see what happens’.
Making sure Carey will have to be at his best will be another well known two wheeler champion, triple Australian superbike champion Shawn Giles who has already declared his intent to “smoke the field” in the five-lap event.
Hart will arrive in Melbourne on the weekend to undergo an intensive driver training course for a week at Sandown racetrack with Geoff Brabham, in the hope that his BMW 1 Series car will be returned in one piece after he hits the Albert Park circuit during the Australian Grand Prix.
Grand Prix Celebrity Challenge Schedule:

Sunday April 2, 2006
