Any Canberra/ACT riders?

Anyone here from Canberra?

I just moved over here from Perth and I havent read/found any places to ride.

Perth has a tonne of places to ride, and Canberra being more open and more of a hole, i thought there would have been thousands of places to ride but i cant find any.

Does anyone know of any that are publically accessible?

Hey dude, yup i live in Canberra. In tuggeranong. What Burb do you live in.

There arnt many places to ride unless you have acsess to a farm or mates farm. As i do. There is a local Moto X track at Fairburn. At practise days you pay your 10$ and you can ride. Not very good though. Big ruts n shitty table tops and stutters.

I live in Ngunnawal at the moment. After seeing all the hills around here I would have thought there'd be hundreds of places to ride, but theyre all private land.

Do you know someone with a farm or did you just ask a farmer?

Yeah, there are a heap of great places to ride, most of them are iilegal. There are some great trail at Corin Forest and some other places but you need a moto liecence.

Im surprised that canb isnt flooded with riders. Perth has a tonne of riders and places to ride, canb comes up dry.

im just about to get a new bike. I had to sell my old one when i ****ed up my collar bone before I moved. Should be getting one in the next week or two.

I might have to go out to fairburn sometime and check it out. Hopefully i also find a non-public place to ride sometime soon also.

Farburns not that bad, You can also ride out near bungadore I think its called....It has sand,MX track,Enduro and hopefully a ramp setuo if I ever get the down ramp built up....

Hey fellas, i have the same prob, an ACT rider wit no where to ride. I have riden at Larbert (Past bungendore) that's not bad and theres a place near captains flat but it costs 10 bucks. And i sometimes go to tharwa but i think that's illegal, but ppfftt, heaps of people go there!

There is also a quarry out near Corrin Forrest that you can ride at as well. If you go out to the Brinabella's you will usually run into rangers and cops so be careful. If you get the bike there by van or trailer they will wait around until you come back and nail you then. I live in Bruce and usually ride out at a mates farm near Yass. This is your best bet.. Find someone with a farm.. The problem being that most of them won't let you ride at the moment because there is very little feed on the ground and they don't want bikes tearing it up.. I'm not allowed to ride out there at the moment until it rains some more... Dohh.. I live in Bruce so every now and then I'll go for a quick ride behind Fernhill Park and the AIS.. I once got nail by a cop while jumping these awesome dirt hills near Hayden Drive.. He was cool about it and basically told me not to ride that close to the road as it may cause an accident... He recons he say me jumping and nearly stacked himself.. He let me off and said it was OK to ride back where I was as long as I used common sense and didn't disturb anyone... The only people I disturb are the kids that go up there to pull cones... I usually scare the shit out of them and they take off.. The best option is to find somewhere that is close to your home and your not going to disturb anyone.. Eg. They can't hear you.. Most cops are usually cool with that around here..

iv been riding up just throught that white gate in corrins forest that is open i built a little up ramp there on the week end and will build more when i take a wheel barrow out anyone else free to buid more or just start riding there

Hey I live just 10 mins out of canberra. Ive got a 7 acre property and one competition size ramp out here. soon ill have a motocross track built as well. Im 17 and at school, i ride nearly every arvo. I have a friend down the road who has a home built ramp at his house.

Sorry I just saw your addition to the thread.. I no longer live in Canberra but with reference to how to get behind te AIS the easiest way is to go in via Fern Hill park.. I used to live in the units in Huntley Estate so I'd just drag the bike out of the garage and ride it there.. There are tracks all up behind it and I used to ride/jump a natural hit that is carved into the face of mound there..

I ride a 00 CR125 too. Me and Hucky are in yr 10. I don't live in Canberra at the moment, but i'll be back in december. Should have my compound sorted a few months after and Hucky has his Aussie comp nearly finished.

We both have privite places. Mine is up near Jyndibine and I ride at a mates place in Burra. There pretty much isn't any public place to ride other then Tharwa captins flat or braidwood. But there is a sweet 80ft step up at tharwa.

Yeah the bottom end is pretty crap on the 00 CR's. But I love my bike. It's so nice to ride.

Canberra is pretty dry of public places to ride. Hell, we can't even get a V8 Supercar race without someone complaining and the stupid government taking it away. :(

Canberra has one track, called Fairburn. It's not the best track, but it's allright. Few tables, few small stepdowns. Last time I went there it need major matinence.

Narh Pete I went last week for the race day, they got 2 ski-jumps and 4 table tops. 10,12,15,20m there pretty sweet! Not that big but You know there racers hahaa they like to keep it nice and low. I know its been ages since anyone posted on this thread. But i just discovered this site. I live in belconnen and keen to meet some other guys that ride. i know a few but they are all soft and never come riding.
Anyway if anyone reads this and wants to catch up and go riding let me know.
am going riding tommorrow at larbert road if anyones keen.
