Okey Dokey, Simple poll......in reaction to Redbulls complaint about page loading times and Picture sizes. Simple question...

"What generic size should most pics that are uploaded into the forums be?


640 x 480
800 x 600
1024 x 768
Custom size, that is not listed, please state in thread...

Most popular size, will be the size i , or possibly any other mod, will resize oversized pics to.

I think maybe if we go 800x600 or less, with the aspect ratios the same it will work well in my opinion, that way you mods don't have to crop the pics, just set the width at like 800 for all. Just easin Mungo's workload, coz I have noticed that he resizes a LOT of pics on here, and always before I see the huge ones, very efficient man. I applaud your dedication and have been caught wondering on multiple occasions how you can just keep resizing everyones pics without getting a bit cut or bored of going to the hassle. I know I appreciate your dedication to the site even if not everyone does. :)

reckon a max of 800x600, smaller the better of course for those who have slow connections, make it that if it isnt that size upon upload, you get warned for taking up bandwidth or something like that

hehe, thanks for the kind words G man, I do what i can, and as most people know that talk to me via messenger when I'm set to Busy.......I'm BUSY! lol. but i have been blessed with the tallent of being able to multi-task, it's just the PC thats lackin in the speed department now LOL, time for an upgrade to keep up with me :p
And yeah, as for the pics, I chose 800 x 600 as the generic size, because thats what 99% of peoples stock screen resolution is. Takes up most of the screen without having to pan around to look at it, and when i resize i always resave at 90% quality, just to drop the file size down aswel, which for a 800 x 600 pixel pic, is around the 150 - 200kb mark, not to unreasonable i think.
And sadly, for most of us with a shitty 56K modem, not unlike myself, it still takes a little while for them to load. Thems are the breaks. So it may not come down to an actual pixel size, but a filesize limitation.........
Oh and Dragon, Adam has assured that bandwidth is something we shall not have to worry about for quite some time :D. it's just about the inconvienience of loading times. :(

Yeah, i'd say a limit of 800 x 600. Brad has been doin his best to resize any pictures that are too large. Hats off to the man.

Yeah i guess it all depends on mungo as to the sizes ay, lol, i run 1280x1584 or whatever it is so sizes dont' worry me, but for people on 800x600 screens i'd say a pic of 640x480 would do the trick so the page doesn't have to scroll to the side at all. just a thought

Okey Dokey............It's 3 to 5.............in 800 x 600's favour,......and i DID say that the most popular one will win...........HOWEVER.......... Due to some people STILL complaining about that size bein too big, I've decided it's 640 x 480 OR lower.

Dont bother complaining about 640 x 480, cause it aint gettin any lower ladies and gentlemen....it's that or i just dont bother anymore. K :) Case AKA "Thread" Closed.
