I dont know if any has as boring life as me but i was just flicking thru the channels and started watching the channel 9 news and this whole bizzo on george bush coming to australia, for a whole 21 hours whooooooo if u ask me i think its 21 hours waste of our tax payers money. I watched that man fly in with a good 100+ police officers on the tarmac, then saw him go to where he is staying a huge mansion no doubt the electricity ecct ect is payed for by us and also 100 odd police around that house or the whole night and of course helipcopters and the rest of the whohar. Then saw him go into the parliment house with at least 200+ police around to stop protestors and the protestors being "hundreds of metres away, out of sight out of mind"

Now i dont wanna start a huge fight over this nor do i want to be slammed for what i think is wrong, but what do u guys think? please be level headed.

I dont agree with everthing Bush has done and stands for but I agree with him over a few things. Iraq and Afganistan the other. Anyway Bush is the number 1 terrorist target in the world and I don't blame him/our governemt for using so many police/army etc that they have.

He is the worlds most powerful leader and we've spent just as must on the queen etc when they come for a visit. At least Bush is here for a reason and its only 21 hours.. Those police and army people would have been paid anyway, they just would have been off doing something else. Normal patrol, sitting in a barracks or something else. I personally don't think it's costing alot, some in politics/media just make out that way.

Its kinda like when they rescued that Tony Bullimore or whoever he was in that little boat down near Antartica. Everyone was whinging about how much it was costin a day for the Navy boat to go down there. The thing is though that boat would have still been out at sea regardless of whether it was rescueing anyone or not. It just would have been on excisices or patrol, so in reality it didnt cost taxpayers much at all other than money we where already paying out... Same goes with this visit in my opinion and Bush coming here to thank us for Iraq is the least he can do.

I may be completly wrong and it may well be costing taxpayers alot of money but imagine the cost to the world economy if he was assasinated, stocks would plunge and the world would be pretty screwed for a while...

Just, my 2 cents worth and nowhere near everthing I wanted to say on the subject but this is a FMX site and I would prefer to use my keystrokes for freestyle stuff.. ;)

maybe there is some 'behind the scene' action that we're all missing out on?
ok ok maybe i'm going a little toooo far in that last sentence

but when it all comes down to it - WHO CARES!!!!!

lol brad always in for free stuff, I unfortunately missed his apparently thrilling speech as i have been sloggin my guts out at uni, but heard wonderful things about it, like Bob Brown the greens leader heckling Mr. Bush, then being asked to leave the senate :p, I know we all have our opinions about this topic, so here's mine... I think it was wrong that we have been called upon to perform America's dirty work, it will backfire on us and australians have already died because of this and there will prolly be more that will die. :( BUT... on the other hand we need to protect ourselves, and by going and showing the terrorists that we aren't goin the sit back and wait for the dirty buggers to come get us we are taking a step forward. Now thats not saying I'm for the war cos I'm not, unfortunatly I have friends in the army and navy who have been called up for duty and it scares the hell outta me that I may neva see them again! So on that note I must continue my gut sloggin work.

Well, since it's been a while since i've been near a computer, and seeing as there's a debate on politics, so i figured i'd jump on the bandwagon. I think the media has dodgied up alot of the costs and everything for bush to come out and as insane said, they'd be out doing exercises anyway, why not protect us, sure seems logical to me! He came out to talk free trade in the US which is going to help everyone out (with possible exceptions to film and media itself) but i don't think thats really gonna have a profound effect on how we live our lives, and to talk about security and all of that political hoo-haa. It's also obvious Terrorism can't be defeated but the ones who think they can do it and get away with it will sure get stopped and US/UK/Aus showed saddam, bin laden and the world that they'll do what it takes even if what they did was just a warm-up really.
So in the end, it all comes down to religion, the sooner everyone gets over it and doesn't kill for their beliefs the better

and thats my 2 cents

i think goerge bush and most americans, have something bad happen to them, as they have pretty much ****ed this world up at the moment, george is on some sort of power trip, while he is in power, and most americans dont notice what he is doing to the world.

I get annoyed with these tired old debates. Everything that is said is really just pointless conjecture. And i also get annoyed with people who hang shit on Bush, getting angry at him, carrying on as if they know whats really happening. What it comes down to is: we know sweet f*^k all. Last i checked, none of us has access to the CIA or the Aussie intelligence agency, or the pommy one or whatever. All we know is what we see on TV, and thats just crap churned out by the news stations. Bush, Howard, Blair, they know what the story is and we don't.

Um, yes, I agree, all we see is what the news pumps out, which 75% of the time is a vague discription of what someone else told someone else, before it got to the news mob. Bit of the ol' "A Friend of a Friend told me" scenario.
So soon as most people have had their 2 cents worth on the subject, a subject that will never have a conclusion, i cant see this going anywhere else, so case Closed.
