Ive got a thumpstar and i read alot of msg boards and this is the first ive heard of it, My mates thumpy has had somthing go wrong with the kick start and we think it caused the hair line crack in the case, not droping gears or anything he has repaired the case but is getting a new motor at cost price from the dealer anyway.

thanks for the replys
Na I havent had any trouble just a genuine thumpstar dealer was talkiing a bit of shit to me so I thought i would ask the experts!
I race a china bike and love it, havent had a problem with it, think the people who have trouble need to look at their maintanance program and maybe their riding style.
I know I give mine hell! but I still change the oil each week and i can actually change gears! the people I have come across who have china troubles would have troubles on anything! A. they cant ride or change gears smothly b. they dont do proper maintance, at the end of the day they are all motorcycles and need attention.
cheers

I still change the oil each week
thats not going to do much, u'd be better off changing it monthly it will still look after the engine.

ur trying to tell me that changing the oil after every 5 or so hours of riding will not be any better to my bike than changing my oil monthly?????.
They dont have oil filters so u should change your oil as often as possible to ensure u have a clean lubricant.
i have an 04 fym 110 and i also have a 125cc dpro (whick i import into australia)
i bought the fym when it first came out and shared a similar attitude to you, didnt change my oil often enough, should see the oil pump we just took out of it (roooted!) because i didnt change my oil enough and u dodnt have an oil filter to replace like u do on a big bike any metal shavings get caught in the oil pump.
however now i change my oil often and when ever u pull the motor down its clean.

wont need it...my engine is in perfect race condition....
also, u know what a magnetic drain bolt is?, all the shavings of metal sink to the drain bolt when the bike is not in use & do not get sucked back up. (well they not supposed to)
