i made this motorised bike in my systems class for school but it eats tyres like crazy, it is driven by a skateboard wheel on the drive shaft touching the bike tyre, its a 2 stroke 27.2 cc stihl motor and i was wondering if there was a beter way of driving it.
i cant use a sproket because it would need to be as big as the wheel on the bike (the bike a has 16 inch wheels)).
it goes 42.2 kph(i put a little cat eye speedo on it) but you need to run with it untill it reaches 10 kph or it will stall.
i made a shitty paint pic of it to see if you guys could help me.
it looks good as too. its black with gold rims and bars + a key activated kill switch.

nice Pic!, nah try welding and metal frame for a belt onto the rim and onto the motor. for a belt driven one

the motor is from a bg85 stihl blower vaccum. its not too loud. that belt driven idea is good but it will be hard to get it tight, ill look around for a rim or something so i could do it

using a belt drive, the pully still has to be as big as the wheel.
try ditching the skateboard wheel, get a bike peg, that has that knurling crap on it. pump the bike tyre up to max psi. and it shouldnt slip as much, or wear down the tyre.

my mate did it too a scooter. with a gocart tyre on the rear.
gearing is a key issue.

wish u luck

hey mate i built tow of these when i was like 14 the first was a mongose with a wipper snipper motor siting on the back wheel i used a sprocket digging into the back wheel just used to ride it with the flat back tyre

my second was a old lawn mower motor sitting in a mountain bike frame i had it rigged up with a chain going from the motor to one of the front sprockets and a chain going from the other front sprocket to the back wheel worked well and yoy could still change the gears on the back

i would love to put a 2 stroke 80 motor or somthing in a fat mountain with front and back shocks and disk brakes
freestyle it for shaw
