No worries bout the banner. i think it could be better, but haven't gotten around to tweakin it yet. Now, as for FTP:
As far as my understanding goes...........
FTP stands for "File Transfer Proticol" and is basically like a legal file sharing system. Many people have personal FTP sites which they store everything from school assignments, diaries, and shit, right up to full DVD quality movies, applications and anything else ya want really. Now, there are a few types of FTP sites.
Ones that are open to the public, that allow anonymous sign in's and no ratio.
Ones that are non ratio but are private, in which case you need a personal username/password to access them
Ones that are public, but are ratio.
Now, the whole "ratio" dealio, say you've got an FTP site that has a ratio of 3:1. now that stands for Upload is to Download. so in other words. you have to upload 3mb of something, (it may be specified what you need to upload) to be able to download 1mb of something on their site. Now 3/4 of FTP sites out there, that are open to the public are ratio sites, it's kinda of a way to garantee that your sharing, if you use em. FTP sites usually work off an IP address and look just like a personal folder on your PC. Internet Explorer works as an FTP browser aswel, but i find a proper FTP browser works best. There are a few available from downlad.com and other places around the net. FTP also work off users, most of the time they will tell you how many users are allowed to be logged into a single FTP site at once. most of em are set rather high at say 500 users, but in any case, if you cant log into a site, that'll be your main problem....unless ya got a username/password combination wrong :p. Aaaaaaaand, since I dont really use FTP and havent had much to do with em, thats my extensive basic knowledge of how they work right there in a nutshell. Anyone else that uses em all the time, can fill ya in on the more complex side of things and any shit i have missed.
PEACE.
