Stock measurements for an aussie Comp ramp are:
Height = 2.6meters
Length = 6.1meters
Transition = Constant radius of 9.1meters.

you make the frame out of the measurements above and then just brace it until u think its strong enough

There is this kid at my school who is building a 'custom' (as he calls it) ramp. He has never even built a smaller ramp before.
Its about 2.4 high by about 6 long with a 'custom radius'. This is all well and good but the idiot is building it out of 25x25x1.6 RHS. He is also using all different types of metal like pipe, angle iron etc. He has built most of it and my god i can put my foot on the bottom rail and wobble the trannies from side to side no hassle. I tryed to tell him that this wasn't the right was to go about building a ramp but the reply i got was:
'Nah F off you dont know shit'
His welds are crap and they are most likely going to break as well as the whole thing just bending.
Moral of this story kids is to know what you are doing before you build a ramp, dont skimp. It could be the difference between you living and dieing. Save the extra $$$ and buy the proper metal (40x40x2) or even (50x50x2 for one heavy ass strong ramp). Build a smaller lil ramp first to get some practise with building it all before building comp ramp.

you can use smaller metal ... just need lots more supports and bracing ... but yeah if ya can wobble it that sounds sketchy...
that pic above is kinda helpful too ... any chance someone can get an aussie comp ramp with the heights every foot or half metre?? like the original rev 1 plans are layed out? if someone could do that for me it would be very helpful!

i think struto use's like 40 x 40 x 1.6mm thick and i was going to use 30 x 30 x1.6 and it IS strong enough just have enough bracing

im should be starting to build my first ramp next week. Im still tossing and turning whether or not i should build it big straight up. I'm thinkingof making it 6.5foot tall, and then have another 2foot extension. like the picture

also, how long is the piece of curved metal on a standard comp ramp. The actual part lenght b4 it is curved/rolled.

for the transition we just had 2 8m lengths and got them rolled then cut off the bits that hung over when we finished making the rest of the frame and we just used 40x40 with 2mm wall section and 2.5mm wall section on the tranny pieces. here's a pic of our aussie comp.

Got anymore pics/ and how did you join the ply to the metal?

We got a poo load of pics man, all angles, the ply is attached with hex head roofing screws, they have a rubber gasket type deal to stop them coming loose and stuff... Don't skimp on these either, it's not funny when your surface comes off... Not that this has happened on this ramp, but another one we made a while ago with checkerplate.

yeah, those 'hex head roof screws with rubber gaskets' are called texscrews, for anyone who needs to know

Actually, it's not, it's pretty much an Aussie Comp standard design, the supports that are in, are custom ones for the person i origianlly designed it for, but the design does have room for more if you want to put em in. :)
