Holidays are 4 days away. I'm going to be building a aussie comp ramp the second week of the hols. First week i will be learning to weld. OK, down to the business. I have my plans, everything. Just need to know every step of how u guys made it. for example, do u make the bend first etc.
Do u have the siderails bigger metal than the supports?
Please dont hesitate with the replys, get them in ASAP. And if u can please send in pics of your ramps so i can see how u did them.
Thanks guys

i would start..
1. by deciding what metal to use.
2. then, getting the radius rolled.
3. building the height, and length.
4. then the width.
5. then the supports.
6. the the cross supports.

ok, cool mate. Does anyone know what metal i should use? I thought it would be the right thing to do as to get the radius rolled. I thought pretty much the same as u.

here is the metal to use... 45x45x2 or 40x40x2
or if you want a real strong ramp use 3 mil thick instead of 2 mil.
but 2 mil is fine.

ohh.. and if you want it to split us for easier transport, worry about that when you have completed the whole thing.

I just posted this in another thread but oh well, we used 40x40x2 for the whole ramp except the transition which is 40x30x2.5. We just made the height and length and welded them together then dropped the transition into that and made the uprights of the transition too, we finished that whole side then just made another side the same as the one already made, then welded on the cross supports and finished that off, then cut it so it pulls apart into 3 pieces and bolts back together. Then we just screwed on the plywood and painted that with water proofing (we used Bond Crete) then painted it and it was done. This pic is after we water proofed it but before we painted it.
