The Off the Side Hart Attack is quite an advanced trick, and generally you'll want to know how to do Sideways or Off the side Seat Grabs, as they are the stepping stone to doing the Hart Attack. You should also be confident in jumping about 70feet to have enough time to pull this trick smoothely and comfortably to get back on for landing.
This guide is made from the way that I execute this trick, which maybe different to others, but feels great either way.
1. When approaching the ramp, keep your body in the attack position, and try keep your body ready in a position to jump off, like any Seat Grab. Because the execution means you are off the side of the bike, I find it easy to ride just off centre of where you normally jump on the ramp to help push the bike into a whipped position.
2. As you leave the ramp, reach your grab hand back and get a firm hold of the seat. As you are doing this your feet should be coming off the pegs, and bringing your leg over the seat to the side you wish to Hart attack off of.
3. As you bring both legs over to the one side of the bike, you will be pushing your body up off the bike as hard as you can. Try twisting your body from your shoulders.
Whilst doing this, your grab hand will be pushing the bike out the opposite direction. You don't need to do this, but if you want to extend the whip of the bike it is easier to push the bike out to the side.
4. At the peak of the extension, you will want to have the bike pushed out as far as you can. As your whipping the bike, you want to be pushing the back end as far forward as you can aswell. This will then also push your body off the other side of the bike and extend the hart attack.
5. To get back on, it's merely a pull on the grab hole to bring the bike back into a straight line (So you're not landing whipped) and this will bring your body and legs back to the bike for landing. Keep your legs up high to swing back over the bike to get back on without getting caught up on the seat aswell. I recommend holding the grab hole most of the way until you are back on the bike and it is straight, then grab back on the bars for landing.
That is an off the side hart attack. Everyone's style differs, and I like to put more emphasis on the bike whipped out, whereas others might like to put more emphasis on their bodies being perfectly sideways and keeping the bike in a straight line. Whichever you decide, it still ends up looking like a great trick.
Have fun and stay safe.
