Just thought I'd send out a big "THANKYOU", "WELL DONE" and "ABOUT TIME" to Yamaha Corp, for their revolutionary adoption of the "datadot" anti theft protection technology formally only seen in 8 car manufacturers. Yamaha is the 1st motorcycle manufacturor to adopt the system.
The Australian born design of spraying thousands of little "datadots" each containing a motorcycles individual "vehicle identification number (VIN) are sprayed onto all main components, meaning it's easier to trace, find and identify each bike.

Steven Cotterell "General Manager, Yamaha Motor Australia" Quotes the following at the data-dot official release:

"Yamaha motor Australia is an innovator, and takes pride in announcing this new initiative to add value for our customers. Yamaha is the 1st firm in both outboard and motorcycle industries to protect it's products with data dots, but we doubt we'll be the last. We believe that effective anti-theft measurs will benefit all of us in the long run"

What you guys and gurls think of the whole idea, I personally think it's a brilliant idea, that should have been done years earlier. Yamaha is once again the pioneer of the revolution...

Yes, it will be on everything Yamaha produce, such as their complete range of Motorcycle's, outboard motors, all-terrain vehicles and water craft. I believe it will take effect in the new 04 range.

You can go HERE (http://www.marinedirect.com.au/catalogue/category661/product60553) to order a mini datadot kit for yourself. Paint up to 2 lines of 15 characters each of any code you wish. Eg. drivers licence number or Company number or something.
